Just noticed he was actually 6/5 fav to beat Royal Pagaille. Although the latter was an easy winner that day, Espoir De Romay was also eased down on the run in. He is just 6 years and 10 months old so by missing Cheltenham he is clearly looking to next year. Certainly one to keep an eye on
Hazel Hill in the Hunters Chase 20-1 ew - not NRNB but almost guaranteed to be there and even at 13 years of age should make the places.
Another one bites the dust. Such a shame Energumene and Thyme Hill don't run. The former was going to be involved in one of the best races of the week although in my mind would have come off second best to Shishkin. The gloss has certainly been taken off the Arkle somewhat..
I d be worried about his jumping.. not sure it will stand up in a gold cup. He brushes through his fences but it adds further interest to the race...
Yep, not great news that. A maximum of 8 in the card commencer then (that's hardly something to 'roar' about) and just 6 in the following 'Meghan Markle'. Disappointing with a capital 'D' in terms of numbers. I note in the Ultima the forum's favourite trainer runs both OK Corral and Pym but in view of his comments a couple of weeks ago, for both, Cheltenham will be simply their 'prep' for the big 'un at Aintree.
Overall not the greatest Tuesday line up but at least the Champion Hurdle looks a decent renewal. I've gone back to calling it the Arkle now as I no longer find THAT woman's name in any way humorous.
Looking for a bit of advice on ante-post rules for a mates bet, I don't do ante-post so wasn't sure when he asked me. He placed several multiple bets last week with Hills, who were already NRNB on all races. One of his bets included Longhouse Poet in a treble, that horse doesn't run but they have settled the whole bet as a loser? He thought the Longhouse Poet leg would be void with NRNB and the bet reverts to a double? Or does NRNB only cover singles and not multiples?
Some of the races cutting up as bad as Leatherface on LSD. It will certainly be the poorest festival from the working man's point of view, punting wise. Sure, a lot of the odds on shots will oblige, but a lot of races aren't interesting me due to the lack of competiveness now. To me, the pattern of this festival is beginning to look ominously like the Dublin racing festival of the past two years.
That's not true. Betfair definitely just void that line, and the bet would be a double. You will have to check with whoever he placed the bet with
I had a similar feeling STH looking at some of the races which have cut up so badly. As lockdown leaves plenty of free time I had a look at the results of the the ‘sure things’ of the last 3 years. I used 2/1 or less as a qualifier. 2020 3 winners from 9 2019 4 winners from 7 2018 5 winners from 9 So overall just shy of 50%.
Looking through my AP single bets it’s all about The Big Breakaway in the 3 mile Novice Chase at 33s. I do think this fella hasn’t shown his best form yet and whilst Monkfish is a worthy favourite on form TBB should give me a good run for my money. I’ve had a few silly multiples over the year and most aren’t worth recording and demonstrate the folly of AP betting with so many entry options available. The following Mullins L31 frustrated me. Ferny Hollow - Supreme 10/1 Appreciate It - Ballymore 14/1 Chacon Pour Soi - CC 5/1 Monkfish - RSA 10/1 Alloha - Ryanair 10/1 If Ferny Hollow hadn’t got injured I’m pretty certain Appreciate It would have gone Ballymore and that would look a decent multiple right now. Good luck everyone.
Non Runner Goes for the closing race tomorrow despite it being a Grade two, so have backed him at 9-2!
