I know it's early, but thought I'd share what I fancy for next years festival looking at the odds on offer.

First of all Altior in the Champion Hurdle looks a great bet at 8/1, he hammered Min who was very highly thought of and he's trained by a man who knows how to win a Champion Hurdle. Faugheen and Annie Power may well be around, but they'll both be 9 next year, I'm not saying that's over the hill, but a lot more 6 and 7 year olds win Champion Hurdles. I think that's the peak age for Champion hurdlers. I certainly think he should be a lot shorter than 8/1 after the demolition job he dished out in the supreme.

The other I like is Vroum Vroum Mag for the World Hurdle at 16/1, surely Limini will go for the mares next year, so I think the world hurdle will be the obvious race for her. Thistlecracrack is going over fences so she won't have to worry about him. If she lines up she'll likely go off at a favourites price.

If Thistlecrack stayed hurdling for another year, he would be unbeatable over 3 miles

What price Douvan for the QM Champion Chase. SS put up a cracking performance in a fast time but I'd want to retire him after that.

Problem is, next year the going could be soft.

With good going I wouldn't rule out Ivanovich Gorbatov or Superb Story at a decent price
 
Thistlecrack going over fences with Gold Cup the aim. 10-1.
Vroom Vroom Mag is a huge price but surely she could end up in the Ryainair next year if Vautour were to do the right thing and go for the Gold cup.
 
We still didnt know what races a lot of horses were going to 1 week before the festival, what chance have we got of trying to guess 1 whole year away?

This year has totally put me off the ante post market, ill no longer be getting involved in it. Good luck to those of you that do.

The Champion Chase will certainly be interesting Ron. Moscow Flyer did win it aged 11 so I wouldn't discount Sprinter Sacre. If he can run to the level he did on Wednesday again then Douvan will have his work cut out.

It's hard to say how good Douvan actually is, UDS looked equally as impressive in his Arkle win, but he couldn't get the job done against the seasoned chasers the following year.

Douvan may well be a machine, but so far all we know is that he's a fair bit better than Sizing John.

Willie Mullins is still yet to win either of the 2 championship level chases at the festival too, despite having loads of fancied horses run in them over the years. So I wouldn't be in any rush to take the short odds on offer now for him.
 
Senewalk for the Supreme Novices. 12-1 is a crazy short price but Ricci had a look on his face when he spoke about him and at the moment is his Supreme horse. Wont be gettting the 50-1 about him like Min was any time soon and hard to see that price shortening at all over the next 6 months so wait for now.

Karalee for the Mares Novice race when that market is formed.
 
Don I had a little ew wager on Senewalk for the Supreme at 16s for the craic.I know it's a year away and might turn out to be a pig but the bragging rights alone are worth a small flutter if it turns out to be another RR/Mullins diamond!!

I find that comment both disappointing and disrespectful. How can you measure the "worth" of someone else's bet based on your "Mr Big Balls Gambler" perceptions? Believe it or not, there are people in this world whose financial situation means that, yes, a tenner bet IS a big deal to them. Does that somehow disqualify them from posting on this forum? Perhaps you can ask Donald Trump to start a horse racing forum, just for high rollers <laugh>.

Completely agree with this - my 50p combo accas made a tidy sum and my £1.03 8 fold eway acca (x2 by mistake I might add!! <laugh>) would have allowed my Mrs to retire had Zubayr and Cue Card done the business - she was gutted and I reckon I would have been bang on for that threesome with her friend I've been asking for <laugh>!!

The amount someone gambles is irrelevant in my opinion - I respect the winners selected, not the amount staked.
