Chelsea's "great" record at OT- Mythbusted

Optimistic Chelsea fans are clinging to their supposed good recent run of form at Old Trafford to support their belief that the CL tie is not finished. Now I agree that the tie is still alive, but simply because Chelsea have enough quality to beat us 2-1 or 2-0 next Tuesday. Nothing to do with any perceived hoodoo over us at OT. Because their recent record (as in, that enjoyed by this particular Chelsea team) away to United is nothing special.

In fact, over the last 5 full seasons - 2005/6 to 2009/10 - their record at the Theatre of Dreams is no better than Arsenal's or Man City's, and only marginally better than Liverpool's. Do these other teams have this reputation of a favourable record at Old Trafford? No, so why do Chelsea? See below:

So where does this come from? Just desperation on behalf of the Chelsea following? It's strange how these suppositions grow from nowhere. But as United fans, we should be used to myths by now.

In that ratio, 3 losses, two wins and a draw isn't so bad

I think the overall league record in that time is more favourable as well, which is what I'd rely more on that at OT which will bever be easy...@ SB five wins and one draw in the same period.

It's not unfeasible that we'll win given our recent history against Utd, but let's face it you have a massive advantage and we've never beaten you in the CL

I was only going back 5 years. You can't go back 6 years. Who goes back 6 years for Gods sake? If you go back 10 years, then it's still only 3 wins (compared to Arsenal's 2 and Liverpool's 4)

Why stop at the the beginning of the Premiership, why not go back to the end of WWII or even back to the creation of football, or how about games only playing in a non- leap year or in April.
The only question that matters is 'Are Chelsea capable of beating Man U?' and the answer is 'Yes'.

Alright smartarse. I went for 5 years because that's a nice round figure and a lot of the players playing 5 years ago are still playing now. Admittedly, the 5 year period does work best for my own ends, but I assure you that had nothing to do with my choice
