    Phil Neville disagrees
"What's gone wrong for Chelsea? One word. Matic.

It's as simple as that. The minute they sold Nemanja Matic was a mistake.

When you had Matic sat in front of you, alongside Kante, there was protection.

Whoever made that decision needs sacking. That is one of the poorest decisions I have ever seen in the Premier League."

This team tonight has the look and feel of Mourhinos' last days. When looking for the common denominator, 2 things stand out. Starting the same out of form players, with the team knowing before kickoff they are not set up to win, and the behind the scenes personnel. Conte has a big decision to make about Cahill. He should be dropped as Captain, and reduced to a sub at best, there is no improvement to come in him. Kenedy and Christensen should be used and trusted more, the back then looks pretty well equiped. Fabregas looked ready for the knackers yard, BIG mistake keeping him on. Drinkwater and Kante should be tried ASAP in the hope they can reignite their Leicester form, and Bakayoko is out of his depth trying to partner Fabregas. There must be a knock on effect for the team as a whole when a player keeps making the same mistake over and over and doesn't get subbed.
However, firing the manager will only start the same old cycle again ,and unless Roman rids the club of his syncophantic mates, we will be right back to square one of post Jose.
The more things change at Chelsea the more they remain the same. One big step forward, one bigger step backwards.

Couldn't agree more, no point having players who want out. Matic was not playing at his best under our system and now he'e in a team that suits him better. Always sorry to see such good players leave especially when they turn their form around and make us look stupid. We have a history of misfit players, all good but wrong for our style and our managers vision.

This is why we should be using our own grown. Conte had his chance but seems to have let go of the strings, how much was his doing we will never know. We move on, a win against Manure will ease the pain but I feel a storm brewing.

Virtually giving Chalobah away seems an odd move.

Carlo will be a step back than Tony.
We need someone in the mould of young Mourinho, not totally proven but has the pedigree and hunger to fight.

It is just a question of when he leaves than if with Tony, now.

Comeon the same Matic who downed tool for Judas in 2015?

Matic wanted a pay day. Our board were so thick and could have given Cescy's cap spaces to Matic honestly he did the double duty in 2014-15.

We lose all around for ineptness of Emenalo & Co.

We massively overachieved last season but it's hard to win matches when you can't even do the simple stuff. That second goal was embarrassing, an U11's team would have dealt with that long ball. We missed so many easy chances though, that Morata chance which he whacked over the bar was easier to score, Pedro was through one on one after about 30 seconds and should've scored and Hazard should've done better on his left foot when he went through too.

We looked slow and lazy tonight, losing is fine but a bit of effort would be nice. That second half is the worst I've seen us in ages and I agree with CP that it did have the look of Mourinho's last team. I feel the 3-4-3 has been sussed out a bit but we don't seem to have a plan B and keep on playing the same few players. Similar to when Jose wouldn't move from that 4231 and continued with Ivanovic at Right Back.

I don't think any of Luiz, Alonso, Cahill, Rudiger, Morata, Courtois & Bakayoko can complain if they don't play the next match. Time for Conte to earn that salary increase.

So you say Managers show loyalty to Players??

It is incredible how Judas showed his loyalty to Ivan, Nando yet he disposed Mata - reigning 2 time POTY.

I don't get how Tony can be loyal to Cahill & Cescy and don't blood youngsters.
Same Tony who benched JT, texted Diego out; yet starts Cahill & Cescy 3 times a week FFS!!

Don't get the squad strength. We are lighter by Matic only.
He can think out of the box just like he did with Moses last season.

Luiz should be in there with Kante - end of the discussion.

Simple fix for all our needs, yet Conte will go out of his way to start awful 11 a la Judas!!

It is all academic now. It is a question of WHEN Conte leaves than IF!!

Starting to get those same old feelings, starting to see those same old performances after a good season. What is it about our Club that we seem incapable of building and improving each year, instead we start going backwards for Christmas, a la Spike Milligan.Has to be Roman, Emanelo, and the rest of the behind the scenes dopey synchophants, like the fat Russian mate. He's nodded yes to Roman so many times he's he's rubbed his chin away. Time for a middle Eastern or Chinese take over, this same old merry go round is getting repetitive and boring. Just can't believe that Roman can't see what's always happening.

Matic wanted to leave for 2 reasons.Firstly he didn't like playing second best to Kante and secondly the JM factor.
Sacking Conte would be a huge mistake IMO.We over achieved last season thanks to Conte now he needs time.....

I like Conte a lot but do you see similarities between this group of players and the players the season Mourinho got sacked?

Yes and Yes. Paid too much, no penalty for not performing cause there's no one to replace them, thanks to Romans' "Talent Scouts", the footballing genius' behind CFC, who arse lick Roman and **** up everything they do. That's what happens when you employ your mates instead of people who know what they're doing. Players have become too used to having their bums wiped, boots cleaned, restaurant bookings sorted, clothes washed, someone else picking up the bills, private aeroplanes, women on tap, no consequences for bad behaviour, money to burn and Club cleaning up after them and protecting them. When the pressure is on to perform, it's easier to band together and get the Manager fired for "losing the dressing room". Couple of weeks of underperforming, not trying, loafing and scowling when subbed, and the pressure is on the Manager.
New one comes in, instantly performances improve, up the ladder we go, and hey ho, Agents ensure contract extensions are signed, wages increase, another genius at the helm, hooray, Champions. Now the hard work starts, have to do it again. and hang on, that's not how the script goes. I'm not getting paid enough to work that hard, and who does this manager think he is?? Players rule at this Club.
Overpaid, overated nancy boys with hardly enough brainpower to make a torch glow, and not enough character or guts to earn their obscene wages. And that's just the Under 17s' !!!!!!!!!!!!

This season is not yet comparable to 2015. We should still qualify out of our C.L group and very much in the top 4 hunt.

We badly miss Kante of course and a few others probably still getting back to full fitness.

Don't think Conte will be with us next year as I'm not convinced he has settled. But I'm not going to do a stan and get on his back so soon after he has won us the title. Support the manager and the team and be a fan not a johnny come lately armchair warrior. .

1 match doesn't make a team. The following need to be rested though as they just don't look fit (probably hampered by injuries). Luiz, Bakayoko and Morata.

Think Conte is playing them through injury and that doesn't help anyone, especially since we have an abundant of talent in defence so would prefer Luiz to be rested.

Bakayoko i can understand being played out of necessity.

Fabregas needs dropping as does Cahill (permanently).

Even Alonso has been sketchy although its really only Kennedy we can play lwb.

No question about whether I support the team & manager.

But these are obvious "sack me" statements made by Conte just like Judas.

Of course Conte isn't Judas making us flirt with relegation. But that doesn't mean we will get anywhere close to 4th and Conte is better.

Worst of all we might(will) still drop into Europa this season.

That will make us struggle top 10 let alone top 4. Ffs we are kept in CL by fcuking Qarabag.
