On his first tour of duty he was supposed to learn from Ledders and be introduced to the team later in the season, which was slightly undermined by Ledders being injured and he was thrown into the deep end - not helped by the midfield being inept at breaking up play. No wonder Robbo was habitually being beaten from 30 yards, whilst Old606 was calling for a whole new back four to be brought in, with Daws bearing the brunt of the abuse. Ramos was an idiot for selling him the following summer, but the first four words get used quite a lot anyway...
Yeah i saw that and it's such an asset to have that pace at the back in today's game. ledley is the key though, he reads the game like a Baresi & having those quick players around him is perfect. & they learn off him. Kaboul is a very good center half these days, i wouldn't want to see Gallas or Dawson instead of him, he's good and he'll get better. Walker improves every game, he still has moments where he switches off but his pace can get him out of trouble & they're becoming fewer each game. I think Walker might be the quickest player in the league. I've always been a Benny fan, for someone who claims to have no interest in the game he has a proper football brain and he helps us keep possession so well. i could imagine an old school "if in doubt kick it out" coach trying to coach Benny, i think they'd end up in a psychiatric ward, but his development as a footballer over the past 2-3 years has massively influenced the way we play.
I think that definately shows that we have upped our game this season. Have to take into account these were all away games as well!
I wonder whether Man City will face their first defeat of the season at Anfield on Saturday. It's a Lancashire derby and Pool will be buoyed by their win at Chelsea. This could be an excellent chance to catch 3 points up on the leaders.
I shall be supporting City big-time on that one. If Pool lose that, that means they lose some of the advantage they got in their race with us by winning at Chelsea. AFAIK the game is on Sunday, which is good from my viewpoint, as it gives City a chance to recover fully from what will be a massive test in Naples tonight. Of course, the key is that we win at West Brom, which will mean we can relax watching that game and knowing points are being dropped by someone, not us. Man U play Toon on Saturday, and there's another nice game for us, as long as we beat WBA.
GHoddle Sir. I shall be supporting Liverpool so that we can catch up with City.WHEN we win our game in hand against Everton we will be in striking distance of the top. Football is a strange game, last week City inflicted the first defeat on Newcastle so it could follow that City will suffer their first defeat the week after. WBA will be difficult but I've never been impressed with Woy's teams. I think we will win it. But come on Liverpool.
I think City will absolutely batter Liverpool, to be honest. They totally outclass them in the midfield. The only factor that might help the Scousers is the Champions League. City may feel the need to rest one or two.
Agree with that, Liverpool are yet to impress me at all, even in their wins against Chelsea and the Goons they've been very average. Even with City resting a few I would still expect them to win.
Well Ghoddle that's it isn't it? As long as we keep winning then there's no problem is there? I just hope we don't hit a blip after our next defeat. Now as for City, well don't barbecue me here please but I've noticed a slight dip in scoring power and I've been waiting for them to come up against an up and coming top team. It took them a late first half penalty against Newcastle who up until then and for a time after were holding their own. I feel Liverpool might just spring a surprise.
On the flip side, I can see them bulldozing through Chelsea - come to think of it, I think Newcastle may have the measure of Chelsea at the current rate.
As a few have said on here, the best chance of City slipping up is going to come when winter sets in. Aguero and Balotelli's reactions to the cold and dark will be the making or breaking of them.
Croydon,I have to agree with you there and I think Wolves might prove a handful for them too. Good point Wandering Yid,I hadn't thought of that.
Fair comments TMT ATM I'm supporting Pool, but expecting a City win. IF we beat WBA, I'll be able to put my feet up and watch the game, knowing that no result will hurt us, in the short-term anyway.
