This is why I watch football! So happy, but as much as I'm happy for RVP and the team, WHAT a result for Arsene especially after yesterday's grilling from shareholders about the direction of the club. We just beat a team that consistently spends more than us. Oh and Ramsey is doing what I thought we bought Arteta for, making some amazing assists. The one for Gervinho was awesome.
A special mention to Laurent Koscielny. He was unreal in a defence that was doing anything but for the first half annd some of the 2nd. I said a key match up was him against Torres and he well and truly took Torres out of the game. I have said before this guy has the potential to be one of the best and this performance has just reaffirmed my belief.
Almost right I bet you think the score is just papering over the cracks Oh by the way, you get the same amount of points for beating Stoke etc as you for beating Chelski
Great result for you! Terry falling flat on his face - priceless Word of warning - don't defend like that when you play city!
We were also unfortunate not to be 2-1 up at half time, both Gervinho and RVP could have scored. Are you really willing to stand by that comment? Are you saying that there's been no improvement in our team? That Chelsea are poor and had no interest in attacking us? I think it would be more prudent to just admit you got it wrong
The defeding is one thing, we've all been saying that it needs improving, How can you stand by that, unless you mean this? It can't be both
Fair play mate, and I agree, we still need to sort out our defending. I think it's coming slowly, it was always going to take time for Mert, Santos, Jenkinson to get used to playing with Kos, TV, Sagna, Gibbs anyway. The fact that because of injuries, they've all been thrown together - right at the start of the season, well it's no wonder they've struggled. We're still making mistakes, but I'm certain that Wenger, the coaches and the players are all fully aware and working on it. It's a case of improving a little bit at a time, and to be honest, that's the best that we can do at the moment, So the defenders deserve some credit for the shift they are putting in
Jram - I think you have to cut defensive players some slack. If you rated forwards the same as the defence RVP would have got a 2 today. He scored a tap in, a one on one he should be expected to score, and then a dead goal at the end of the game. But he missed two sitters, dreadful performance. You can't expect defenders to make zero mistakes, particularly when they are expected to get forward and attack and when both sides are attacking all out. The wide open game suited us and if we played it safer, and only let in one goal we might not have scored any goals at all. If we do concentrate on defence and don't score another goal all season, you are not going to get any happier. We do need to take risks to score and that is occasionly going to leave our defenders scrambling.
Merte (or Merde) has a balance problem. I thought as much watching live - when going for the ball he misjudges almost every time. Timing poor, ungainly and loses his feet. Tall yes - but not commanding unless totally unchallenged. Santos must get fitter and lose weight. Djourou just has no sense of positioning - a real defensive liability. Kos really holding the fort - hope Vermaelen can now join him.
