Great post I don't see U21s but from your comments agree - Mandron looked not able to adapt to 1st team game fast enough when he's played , Watmore seems ready just needs to start games , Gooch deserves games - as you say- take care not to underwhelm the rest of team - onwards and upwards on Sat ????
When Bobby Kerr was chucked into the first team as a 17 year old in the late 60s his enthusiasm and desire lifted the crowd and the players, (not to mention his skill). I think when these youngsters get their chances they instantly bring the feel good factor, keeping that going is the problem, more so if SA was to introduce Watmore and Gooch together, it's a difficult one as these kids need to be in a winning team not one that wins one game in eleven, it's a bit of a catch 22 situation.
It might be an idea to try three at once like the Rowell, Elliot and Arnott break through. What I would give for a repeat of those eight days! 4-0, 6-0, and 6-1 in back to back home games!
It would make our team incredibly light weight. Think we'd get murdered with that many at once. Gooch & Watmore together I fancy though. They've got a good understanding.
All good in principle but then they seem to be come surplus to our club - not part of our system and become a surplus or take time to reaclimitise (Mandron ?) - happens at other clubs as well but they are top teams like Chelsea, Man Utd etc - we can't afford to take the losses or hits imo
