How is current form retrospectively applicable to a competition that we won last season?

And how can you say you were good enough - good enough for what?

Last season you finished 4th (admittedly ahead of us) but you were 20 points behind the leaders - it is frigging pathetic how you Spuds fans bang on about your great season and how you were robbed. 69 points is not too good esp' when compared to our 95 point record - no doubt that was a lucky run of games for us too in your little world.

At the end of the day we won the CL and FA and you won naff all - the little green eyed god seems to rule the roost at WHL.

Exactly, a season is judged based on all comps not just the league. Once again Spurs pretty much gave up in Europe too get a top four finish. We suffered in the league because of all the cup runs we had; try successfully juggling both for once then come back.

I'd rather we played you earlier than the final if were to make it that far. You guys seem to be taking your demotiong to "Spursday nights" pretty well, as much as it's mocked it's a good competition once the knockouts start and City and United have already shown that it's not a two bit competition that can be coasted through.

Agreed: a tough competition to compete in. They give it much more respect on the continent as you probably know. Prize money is poor compared to CL though - always a big thing for CFC (thought I'd get that in first!). :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I'm looking forward to seeing us play in it as we will come up against some different (and good) teams.

Only thing that saddens me is that we have spoilt our record of getting beyond the group stage for umpteen years on the spin. Bigger crap happens though. Will be proper hacked off though if we do not get a top 4 spot.

Same. I'm not a fan of All English Finals in Europe, it just feels like any other game.

I'd much rather play you in the Semi, a leg at WHL and leg at Stamford Bridge would hopefully generate some interest.

United and Arsenal will be out of the CL quicker than you can say "jump" and Liverpool could well go out tonight so we may be the only realistic chance of getting to the final between us.

i see you choose to over look the fact that we had been close to wining the CL for years infact we were within a penalty kick of winning it in 2008 in Moscow as well as the ridiculous phantom goal in the semi final in 2005 then we must not discount overabo and Barca robbery in 2009 hell almost every year from 2004 onwards the team that knocked Chelsea out ended up winning the CL our European Cup win was long over due.

you can argue all you want but it will be down in black & white in the football history books-Chelsea ,the only defending Champions to go out in the group stages.

10 point is usually enough to get you through a CL group but our draw was tough 2 very good teams in our group this year its disappointing but after the last 10 years near enough of consistently getting out of our groups we were bound to slip up sometime.

and guess what nobody cares as there will be other chances in future all that matters is our name is engraved on the cup along side the other clubs that have won it throughout history.
