My mate who sits with me was the same - even when I corrected him that it was Ryan on the ball, he wasn't having it and kept blaming Redmond for the stuff Ryan didn't do. He even said that there was **** defending by Redmond at one stage and that he should never try to cover left back......

 

Last season was when the fans started to turn on him.

 

Very hard for a player to get back in the good books once fans turn on them. They will watch him like a hawk and see every minor incident that they will forgive in a player they admire. And players they admire will often be those who don't play much so have had little chance to make the mistakes that every footballer will make.

Let's hope it evens out and Redmond get's the credit for Bertrand assists. Won't happen though.

 

More frustrating than Gaston "No One Else is on His Wavelength" Alice-Band Dodgy Corn-Rows?

 

...The only person ever on his wavelength was Diego Godin was in the 81st minute of the last game Italy that Italy played in the World Cup.

 

Last season when he showed what a limited player he is and will likely always be. He scored 6 PL goals for Norwich the season before he joined us, and he hasn't improved one bit. My Norwich supporting friend wondered why we bought him at the time, when I was optimistic about him for some reason. Ultimately he's an average PL winger being spared a lot of criticism because of his age, I can't see him progressing beyond Junior Stanislas levels of mediocrity as he lacks a footballing brain.

 

I find that hard to believe.

 

Even if everything you say is 100% correct, the fans turned on him and that sucks. We have a lot of **** fans.

 

I was fond of Gaston myself for some unfathomable reason, but in general I get wary when people talk about players being too good for the team and the other players not 'getting' him or not being on his wavelength. If they were that good, they'd see what the rest of the team were doing and adjust....a good player is a good player in every team....not just the one that suits them. May not be at his best, but should still be trying and getting stuck in. It's a case of if your face fits, you can do no wrong....once you are the scapegoat, you can do no right. As managers are human, I suppose they are capable of the same bias....which explains why some players play despite everything and others don't get a chance.
