Up until the first goal, he positioned himself in such a way that their defenders or deep midfielders couldn't pick out their striker or advanced midfielders. It looked quite good until one poor clearance gave them the first goal.
This has been a problem since the League One days. Just, lower league players aren't quite as adept at taking chances from there.
It worked quite well against... Stoke, oddly enough. Not quite, but we conceded fewer goals in total, I bet the proportion of goals conceded from that area was similar; I can certainly remember one or two important ones. Cracking stat that...
I really feel for JRod here. Get's his big chance when he isn't really going to get the ball.....cheers then!
It was always going to be thus against this lineup, no matter who we threw out there: if Chelsea took their chances, they would win. Against QPR, they had 23 shots but were rather poor in the final third; today, with their best clutch of skill players out there, the moments when they've had a sight of goal have been finished.
Agreed. He usually looks to get it and give a five yard pass as soon as possible. He looked good doing that against Arsenal, but not tonight. He does offer something though. I'd like to see WardProwse used a little more regularly too.
Fox on the left and guly with guly in the middle, Davis off for me, not played badly just need someone to get in the box and guly offers more in that roll I feel
Puncheon and Guly aren't having one of their better games are they? Perhaps a bit harsh to pick individuals out though in this kind of game.
