    Sunderland sat bottom of the Championship and Roy gave an adrenaline shot that put them back in the PL. Without that they would have been in the third tier long before now.

    Roy isn't at a club because he loves Ireland where he's received many plaudits and is a huge motivating factor.

    Likewise he would very quickly return the attacking football, commitment, energy, drive and standards to United that the club, fans and quality players deserve. None of these rebuilding, it takes time, we need to spend another £500 million excuses, but right now.

    I hope the final this coming Saturday is more entertaining that that. It would be very, very hard not to do that. Not a shining advert for football last Saturday.
