Funny that, as I do the opposite. I spent much of my career checking and correcting all sorts of spellings, grammar and punctuation that I make a point of not giving a fck when I'm posting on here. Completely indifferent to it, to the point where I wont put apostrophes in or question marks. Fck it, it's obvious isn't it. Having said that, I make a point of putting in commas in clauses and fronted adverbials so that the reader reads it as intended otherwise it could mean the opposite. I accept I may need therapy.
When I was a sprog I had a natural talent for spelling and found it all easy, but tbf, most printing was reasonably good so misspellings stood out - I suppose it was just a sort of pattern recognition. Nowadays, because anybody can write anything they like, there's been such a proliferation of bad spelling I'm starting to doubt myself much of the time. I don't pick up on many on here because I don't want to be even more of an insufferable prick than I already am, it's just on occasion I can't help myself. Apart from the odd slang word or phrase, I still try to spell things properly. It was hammered into me, and I still fear the excoriating blast of my former foreman if I get it wrong.
