No - ref's red can be appealed. We should appeal for sure.

Sort of makes the whole thing a complete waste of time. I know a couple of females in my immediate family who believe football is already a complete waste of time, nothing to be done about them though.

I only seen it briefly but Matic came in from the side and got there first, secondly if it was that horrific how come he got up and sprinted over and got himself sent off?

If Barnes and Matic were coming together head on, then yes I would say horrible tackly but he came in from the side and if Barnes got there first then Matic would be making the "horrific tackle". Matic should have just stayed down, Barnes gets booked, Chelsea win 1 0 at least.

    What was he thinking ffs

Dreaming mate, Matic's red will stand all day long and the ref already seen the incident. In fact cos Matic's was a straight red for violent conduct, he may get the 3 game ban?

Where's Bodanki to tell you all you are throwing hissy fits over what was atually not even remotely a horrific tackle, he went for the ball, got there late and it looked far worse than it was ffs(cos matic was not hut in the least bit at all)

    Sisu isn't a serious person.

I didn't quote him because that tripe he wrote doesn't even deserve a real response.

Sisu, put simply Matic was lucky and more likely young, strong and in good condition with no previous injury to that leg, and as you know I am certain when you are in pain but angry the pain won't stop you. Horrific isn't just used in a reactionary sense, or indeed only what a horrific event results in. One can be literally horrified and undamaged. Why do I feel like a school teacher? I am horrified I actually had to explain that.

He wasn't merely late. He had his other leg wrapped around too. Intent all the way. Matter of opinion? Yes, but Barnes has lost me, he doesn't care in the slightest I'm sure. Good to know he has a fan in you though :) I would advise to be careful who you stand by though as it will reflect on yourself.

Actually Sisu you are bang out of order on this one and Barnes will be banned retrospectively. It was a deliberate malicious tackle full of intent. The fact that Matic wasn't seriously injured is not the issue its the intent. I would give this one up quickly if I were you.

Clearly not or he would have sent him off but if he did that makes him complicit in the charges against Chelsea.

This referee really should be investigated. Some are inept, some are cowards, this one is both AND bent as well.

Just watched the whole match on game of the day, i think the ref saw every incident and as CP says, he needs investigating/re-training.
