Shocking dive. I would be livid if one of the players in my team did something so disgraceful, and any points gained would leave a bitter taste.

Don't think it was a dive, though he was starting to stumble. That said, the contact knocked him completely in the other direction. It all happened in a blink, so can't really fault anyone. Soft ?? yes. Dive? no.
When compared to Ashley Young, Ramires would score 4 out of 10. Young gets a perfect 10 from the Australian judge every time.

I think almost everyone, apart from the most blinkered of Chelsea fans, would agree that West Brom were cheated out of a deserved victory by yet another pathetic decision given in favour of a rich club..They are happening so often it is killing the game..

Bollox. Wb were only ahead cos ref didn't give a blatant foul in the build up to their second. If that was given we may well have gone on and nicked a win.

A lot of arm chair plastics getting sucked in by Sky hype. Soft pen. Hometown decision.

But nowhere near the diving and cheating employed by Suarez, Nani, Young, Janujaz etc

Even the most bitter Match of the Day type fan would find not Ramires pen as repellant as Young or Suarez actions.

The context of Ramires' fall - a late equaliser- has hyped the media frenzy.

RVP missed his pen midway through a match v a European side no one empathises with. Had Young's cheating lead to a last minute winner v Swansea hyped on MotD on a Saturday, the story would be different.

Everyone likes WBA. Bad luck Baggies: it was a bad hometown decision. Better luck with ref decisions at Old trafford

We were looking a bit shabby yesterday and the disputed penalty gave us a point in a game we were expexted to win! I can understand the screaming and shouting from the anti-Chelsea brigade, but there is something in the stats which might show up the truth of what we DESERVED! Namely Possession- Chels 69% WBA 31%. Shots Chels 17(7 on target) WBA 11(3OT), Corners Chels-9 WBA 4, Fouls Chels 11-WBA 15! It wasn't a game solely about 1 disputed penalty! <ok>

If you are a Sun reader or Sky Sports news type fan, you only see the headlines.

WBA should have had a goal allowed for foul play in the build up to a goal too

It's really no different to the famous Ashley Young 'kick the defender's leg and fall over' routine. Some posters will happily lambast the opposition and find any excuse for why their own player's dive wasn't a dive.

Agreed -not quite the 2 somersaults followed by 1 1/2 twists that everyone was ranting about; like you said he lost his footing and the contact probably made it look a worse from the refs viewpoint - no doubt the instant-video replay brigade will getting on their high horse......they should get over themselves and take a break from their train spotting.

I love this argument that diving's okay, because other players dive more often. Sorry, that's completely wrong. Diving is diving whether you do it once or you do it 50 times, and either is totally wrong. And I'm not a hypocrite who thinks it's okay for my team's players to dive as last year, a player called Izale McLeod dived and got a player sent off and I was livid with him, and from that moment I thoroughly disliked him and shed no tears when he left. Anyone who dives should receive an automatic red card and three match ban.

Young is a complete penis and I thoroughly dislike him. I mean what kind of amoral twat dives against their old club to win a penalty, the same club that you were with for years and really gave you the big break in the Premier League?

Do people really think Ramirez dived? I have to say it was a very soft pen but he didn't dive intentionally to get it. A loss of control and footing mixed with a poorly timed coming together of shoulders in the box added up to a pen from the ref. Unlucky WBA rub of the green went Chelsea's way.

Are you sure Roman's money had nothing to do with it?

Yep, that's definitely it. Roman bribed the referee with a fat cheque and told Jose to pass on the message to Ramires 'dive if we happen to be losing 2-1 at the end of the game'.

    You ****ing ******.

The people who are saying Ramires dived are just on the wind up. If you're the size of Ramires and you're off balance and you go shoulder to shoulder with another player you fall over, every single time, 100%. There was contact but i wouldn't have really said it was a penalty though. The last thing it was is a dive. If one player gets contact from another they will always fall over and you'll see it so many other times this season with penalties given for it.

Ramirez was already on his way down before he made contact with Reid (with no one touching him beforehand). Definite dive and definite cheating. It should have been 3 points to WBA and no points to Jose. <ok>

With such a "strong" team and with Jose at the helm we were led to believe that the title was already sown up...Instead the team is dreadful and on current form out of the CL places <ok>

So according to you he was on his way to ground and stepped in front of Reid at the same time. That's pretty good being able to cut across people deliberately whilst going to ground. You've really blown your own arguments there. Well done.

Yep. He was already falling when he made contact with Reid.
