Yeah, I think most feel the same, a rap on the knuckles would have sufficed, UIR's anger is aimed in the wrong direction, but it appears he'd sooner bitch on here about it than write to, call or email the secretary for employment at the house of Commons on the fellers behalf or take out a private prosecution out against the fellers former employers.

Sadly he only has himself to blame. LFC fans had no say in the matter or he'd still be employed <ok>
... not sure what the 'corrupt man at the head of the FA' would have to say though <laugh>

No one is comparing it to racial abuse. I'm merely asking if you would ever refer to black people as 'black scum'. If you would, then your defence of 'scouse scum' is justified.

And for the record, I was never enslsved. Does that mean you can call me scum?

    Please educate yourself.

DK - didn't you know that unless your ancestors were subjected to nasty things, or if you are of colour, then you're allowed to be abused and insulted.

Talking of brand image, I wonder if Sky Sports, with a history of sacking presenters for injudicious comments, will still broadcast the Tyson Fury fight...

Actually a really interesting thing happened to me around the age of 6 or so. I had a mate who lived next door. His family were originally from Pakistan. One day we fell out...he started calling me names based on my red hair. At a loss...i came up with "least i look like i wash.!"

My mum overheard this all and dragged me inside and horrified yelled at me. Later she sat me down and explained why I was wrong..

Except i hadn't introduced the concept of racism, she had. As far as I had been concerned my friend had picked my hair and I had picked his skin colour...the concept of race had not come into it. We had merely eaxh decided to pick something different about each other and make it a negative out of thin air.

After that conversation with my Mum it became racist...

History is important, especially in learning as a society where we went wrong and making sure we try not to repeat mistakes but it does make me laugh how we now go about it. In a time when all are now supposed to me equal and treated equally we have varying standards on what name calling or heritage stealing is or is not taboo based on an undefined historical timeframe. 50 years, 200 years 1000?

Everyones ancestors were subjugated at some point. It bears no relevance on whether someone is discriminated against here today under existing laws.

I think the root emotions are the same......a hatred for a group of people, due to who they are.

Your argument is similar to someone saying 'aaah get over it, you May have lost a family member, don't forget the Jews lost many more'

Comparing everything to an extreme in order to belittle it.

    What a load of cack.

They're fine. Being kept in tonight as a precaution. Don't think I will be sleeping tonight. Luckily hospital is a few minutes down the road so can get there if I need to. Don't think I've ever been so scared until heard baby's heartbeat as she hadn't moved since it happened
