The problem with some of these is they arent prepared to learn. They want straight in at the deep end. Those that do take the time to learn, and pay respect to the coaching role, do better. Pep started as resrves team manager and learned. Klopp the same.

Here is an oddity. I have been coaching football for about 12 years. I have the uefa b licence. I have coached in professional cat a academies during that time, and mens semi pro teams. Some players I have coached are now playing professional football. To get the uefa b qualification took 3 years in lapsed time and that was reasonably quick. The next step up, and last rung on the ladders, is the uefa pro licence which I would be unlikely to be eligible for, but would be another year of lapsed time. Ex pros, apparently, can get the UEFA pro licence through a fast track process of 2 weeks. So they go and spend 2 weeks in a classroom / on the grass and they the gold standard coaching qualification. That does not make them gold standard coaches of course.

People often think top pros can coach. They more often than not cant. Like anything in life you have to practice and learn. English coaches are able to do this, no problem. Unpopular it may be but Eddie Howe is a case in point. I believe 100% Potter will prove Chelsea are wrong. They have both been prepared to avoid the fast lane, and learn. There are others out there.

I know a lad who drives 400 miles round trip every home game to them. Takes his dad and his son. Be hard to find a more chelsea family. I had a coffee with the Dad last weekend and he was in absolute despair. He thinks the new owners are going to sink them. He was genuinely upset, 65 years of going regularly. Now I dont like Chelsea one bit and never have, but I always feel for fans who have the same passion we have. Mind you, I didnt offer him a second coffee, I might have been there all day <laugh><laugh>

About right mate. Here is a thought. A mad one, but a thought. Force clubs to pay the manager / head coach pay more than any player. After all, the coach is more important than any player in reality, and they pay with their job for players acting up. Pay them more, maybe the playets who are so motivated by money, will take a bit more notice. Then again, probably not. Thank our lucky stars we have the club we do I say.

I remember a time when they were decent to watch, good team, now I can't stand them. Potter was too good for them. They'll have had an attitude of "What have you won"? So out desperation, Chelsea have went and got someone that can say "This is what I've f**kin won".

Good post mate. Sound like a good family aswell. However, I find it hard to feel sympathy for fans of clubs that's had more joy and success than most of us dream of. Respect to your mates family though mate.

Aye, good point that. They have been to champions league finals, won leagues and had more fun around europe than we have dreamed of. Sod them, hope they drop to the conference in double quick time <laugh>

It's another reason I like our model now. Young hungry players fighting for the shirt instead of overpaid ****ers at the tail end of their career getting one last payday. I'd hate us to spend money the way Chelsea did in January tbh.

Lampard might surprise everyone, including himself by doing well there.

But he is a lucky man indeed. This is the fourth time he has been given a chance at a good club.

It is a classic case of a man falling down upwards.

    Eh? What? Eh??????? WHAT???

No way? Surely this can’t be true?? Crazy if so!! Can see the boardroom now.

Boehly:“Guys, potter is gone. Who do we want next?”
#nobody? Well I have a surprise for you. Here’s James Corden.”

the board; “ he’ll do a good job”
Boehly: “he’s not managing, I’m not that stupid. Now James, who do you think should ge manager?”

Mayne the owner was given a choice between asking him who their next manager should be or watch a couple of ****s in a car singing with him!
