because he's already happy to say we only lost 1-0 to a very good team … just as you're thinking just bring on a defender of replace some tired legs like for like he made a silly call and it cost us bigtime
Unlucky boys, 1-0 at Chelsea is a good result. Thought you defended manfully for 70 minutes and I think your new lad Maximilian will be a great asset if he can lose three stone.
not a terrible result really and overall i'd say were doing ok if not pretty well … weird sub but it was coming anyway on reflection … weve got to be getting some point from wolves and villa
Solid enough performance but a few worrying issues starting with the subs... ASM, Willems looked knackered after about 10 mins of the second half restarting, Miggy had energy to burn yet was brought off and ASM switched to his side, so no surprise to see Alonso pop up free as a bird with ASM not getting within 20 yards of him for their goal. I like Willems but I think he's no way near fit enough to last 90 and is a bit of a window licker when it comes to decision making. Would have had ASM off for Gayle and Dummy on for Willems after about 60 mins let alone letting one of them play 80 mins and the other the full 90. The other concern I had is how naive some the 2 Longstaffs choices were today, don't get me wrong I think they'll both be class but a few decisions they each made showed their lack of experience. Thought they started the game well but Matty noticeably tired towards the end as well and the decisions went with their energy - maybe The Captain needs to get them on a muesli diet. It's a massive catch 22 though as they can only gain experience by playing and Ki and Shelvey aren't good enough to replace them at present so they'll have to learn quickly. I think we could really do with a defensive minded midfielder come January to come in and give them some help, a real enforcer who knows how to close out a game and put a foot in, pick up a professional booking by breaking up the play etc. Impressed with Yedlin, Dubravka and Clark today - 3 stand out players and if it wasn't for them it could have been a lot worse. All in all could have been worse and if we'd snuck a point I think Chelsea probably would have been within their rights to feel a bit aggrieved to be fair. Hopefully the next few games yield a few points Although West Ham, Bournemouth and Wolves is hardly an easy run.
Chelsea tired us out in the first half and that won them the game in the end, when we were tired they made subs that gave them fresher legs , so if I can see that I have to wonder why we brought on the fast running carroll for the mighty slow almiron, however whether we would have got a point if he's used his subs to good effect we will never know. spot on tactics from Lampard and sadly bruce got his subs and changes wrong at a critical time.
that's what happens when you're chasing the ball for 75% of any game … we needed fresh legs in the midfield when bruce brought carroll on … he ****ed up.. again
if only we just signed rondon and spent 25 million on other players instead of signing rondon !!! jesus Christ what a bad move … another one by the bewildering mike ashley
anyway the next 3 games shape our season, so I'm sure Bruce will use this as an opportunity to do something stupid
at least sunderland got beat again ! they were talking about the champions league and being the next man city again this morning
No they don’t. Our season has already been shaped. It is for us to re-shape the season on a game by game basis.
only 4 points off 7th with 4 winnable games coming up , so i don't think we should change a damn thing until after that if we don't et more than 6 points from them 4 points separate 7th and 18th and weve had harder fixtures than most by some margin
