Luiz gets the wooden spoon the useless showboating ****.

Stick him in midfield and be done with it!

Steady on, you don't have a lot of support here. Luiz has been very consistently, one of our better players for quite a while. If you can't see that, then head off to SpecSavers. He suffers from popularism, the opinion of people who rate others on the basis of popular opinion, usually because they don't have the intellect to make their own judgements. Not putting you in that place, but seriously look at some replays, put aside your prejudices, then come back and tell us again that he's a " useless showboating **** " I think you might be in the minority of one.

When in doubt Bluemoon, go for Great British Compromise. It's worked well for you Poms for hundreds of years !!!.
Seriously, how could you rate one above the other? They're both fabulous players for CFC, committed 110%, never say die, run till they drop, AND seriously talented to boot. Even Gianfranco Zola , my all time Chelsea hero, would applaud either being our player of the year.

Spot on CP. As for Luiz, I was terrified by his tackling in and around the box when he first arrived, but he seems to have settled down in that respect and is beginning to show what an asset he's likely to be in the coming years! Oh--and wouldn't it be nice to have a Zola at his peak in the side at the moment?

I'm not fussed about support mate, and if I'm in the minority then boo hoo...I don't change my opinions to suit the majority and win friends.

I don't rate him as a centre half, end of...the other night, along with others, he was ****e and the goal Cavani scored was directly due to his inability to be a true defender and just boot it out of play, and instead tried to be cute, again, and it drives me mad.

He does it a lot, and it is a serious weakness. He spent a lot of the time chastising Cahill for his flaws when in actual fact he should have been controlling the line as the more experienced European central defender and helping him out.

His confidence is amazing as is his technique with a ball at his feet but his awareness is poor as is his ability to think and behave like a centre half.

He may well adjust in time, but at the moment he isn't doing it and would probably provide us with more options in midfield.

In terms of consistency in the team at the moment...it's not really hard to be one of the higher performers is it given the level that has been set this season so far, but I would obviously disagree with you about him being one of the highest.

    <ok>

    Edit: I meant Lavezzi's goal...Cavani set it up<ok>

Some fair points SW6, Luiz like AVB is certainly dividing opinion.

My own view is he is 2nd best centre back behind Terry and therefore regardless of the odd mistake he has to play. He is also young, came from a much weaker league and has a lot of room to grow. What isn't in question is the guy is a class act going forward and provides something a bit more direct from the back than the usual short pass into a midfielder having to come too deep ala Meireles in Napoli.

It was his fault for the 3rd goal but I believe had it been 1-1 he would have dealt with it better. I think as we were chasing the game he didn't want to give away the ball by booting it out (especially as we were in the middle of our best spell of pressure). It was a mistake of course but a rather fortunate bounce helped Cavanni also.

What I think and I'm sure other fans of the lad can see, is that he is really trying to make things happen for us. If he was playing for say United or City at the moment he'd look a world beater because he wouldn't have to try and force the issue as he is at the moment. I can forgive the odd mistake when I can see what he is trying to do. Same with Mata, Ramieres, Sturridge and Torres. Difference is, there is little room for error at the back so any mistakes he makes are more highlighted.

Absolutely accept your point of view, though we agree to disagree. You feel about Luiz as I do about Cole. I just can't see anything good about him, try as I may, while others really rate him.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say! The thing we have to remember is that the entire squad blow hot and cold when it comes to form! When we make the judgement we have to look at what they've done over the entire season--and I think that has to be Mata or Ramires

I think Cole is still world class, he just doesn't want to play for AVB.

From an outsiders point of view I couldn't agree more with this.

He is a liability and I hope that he is playing against us in a few weeks time. I can see that he has his moments of skill but as a CB he is all over the place and is often caught on the ball or out of position, added to the fact JT isnt there to marshall him I think he is your main weakness.

Right, Luiz is a world class player, but a mid table defender, because of positioning and positioning only. Can you teach positioning? I'm not a pro but I'm sure someone could atleast tell him where to put himself in the defence.

I remember listening to Tim Vickery on 5 Live when the rumours first surfaced about Chelsea being after Luiz.Vickery's view was that Luiz was a great footballer but a **** defender

Ramires has been good, but for me all season and particularly the last three games I've seen one guy run, fight, yell and do he damnedest. Ivanovic.

Luis has struggled a bit but cannot be classed as a useless ****. Now if you want useless **** - BOSINGWA, Malouda, Kalou, Mikel. - Pick one of those tossers!
Player of the year - Ramires or Ivanovic!
