    And in an interview absolutely shot through with irony, Alan Pardew says that he is astonished that RDM was sacked, and that Abramovich should listen to the fans. No parallels with Newcastle, Ashley and Hughton then?

    What amazes me is that the club that has come in for the most stick recently has been Arsenal and yet for the 15th year in a row they have qualified for the later rounds of the CL which means they must have finished in the top four each year to achieve that.
    I believe they will have finished paying for the Emirates Stadium by the end of this season and they have lost or sold most of their "stars" in the process. And they have the same manager and after many years Pat Rice retired to be replaced without fanfare by an old Gooner.
    Take a bow the Arsenal board.

    The irony of all this is that the manager genuinely deserving of the sack is still there.
