If we can hold our 2 point lead (or increase it) come our game, then Jose will be forced to attack us at Anfield. Jose is a w*nker - but the man knows how to win. I despise Chelsea and I hope we stuff them.
Jose's plan is going to be the same as at the Etihad. he's try win the ball form Gerrard and Allen and or cut out their supply and break on us. City countered this well in the cup game by having the numbers just short of the half way line to knock it about as Chelsea stuffed their half with players and pressed the middle to win possession further up the field without actually pressing the back line, more of a 3\4 press with the chav mid trying to win the ball back and the rest trying to cut out options and space for our attacking players. if we over commit we may well lose, keeping the ball in and around the middle is going to be key, they are no slouches on the counter themselves with Hazard Oscar and Willian. Flanno and Johnson are going to have to have a good game for us to get the points. Set pieces, they will try win them around the box especially out wide. We have to press them in those areas without giving free kicks. Sahko skrtel and co will have their hands full with Ivanovic Cahill Terry and Ba on setpieces. We need to score and then play keep ball and pick them off. Chelsea want three points from this if things stand as they are in the table come the game. i'll be happy if we can make Hazard have to come into his own half to get a touch
I wouldnt be surprised if schurrle starts up front, or is at least in the team. He is basically their version of Dirk Kuyt....and that's a begrudged compliment.
I hope Suarez dives to win a 93rd min penalty thus giving us the 3points. can you imagine how moureen would react to that.
Even funnier if it comes from a breakaway after goal line technology denies chelsea at the other end.
When is it anyway? I'm working my rest day on the Saturday to do a workmate a favour - now there's talk it may be shifted from the Sunday because of Chelsea's CL sf. Fair enough, but I wish they'd let us know soon so that I know when I should catch a convenient manflu bug.
I wouldn't go as far as to say City's style suits you. The match statistics yesterday where fairly tight with City just edging you on shots and possession. Now I know stats aren't everything, but things went in your favour in what was a very close game, in your stadium. But on another day you could have lost. These big games are decided by small margins a lot of the time, and yesterday was a good example of this. Chelsea and Mourinho are probably the worst team you guys could face, as they'll happily sit there and frustrate you. The question is, will Rodgers gamble for the win and risk losing the game on the counter attack, or will he be happy to settle for a point, knowing that you will then need to rely on City dropping points between now and the end of the season. There will come a time though, that Mourinho will have to gamble if the games square, as a draw is no good for them either. So it could play into Liverpools hands, if they don't panic in the first half when the Chelsea double decker bus is parked square across the goal. I think the key for Liverpool here is patience as Mourinho will be hoping that Liverpool lose there defensive shape and throw to many men forward early on. I don't think a draw suits either team, so I can definitely see a late goal or 2 deciding things. I can't see Rodgers and Liverpool being daft enough to think that a draw against Chelsea, and win the rest will be enough, as City are more than capable of winning all there remaining games
As much as you're trying to find reasons why we win it and its no secret that you don't want us to, take a look at things from the flip side. We play Chelsea in between both legs of their CL semi final, they've as good as nailed on a top 4 place for next season, their players will not want to risk injury that could mean they potentially miss the CL final, Mourinho would sooner put all his eggs in the CL basket, the most pressure is on them. We got robbed by the ref at City after outplaying them for most of the game, Sunday was evenly matched and like them we are more than capable of winning all of our remaining games.
I think your sadly mistaken if you think Chelsea are going to throw the towel in at Anfield being 2 points off the top. Like them or not, they are a team of winners, with a manager who plays to win at all costs, they certainly won't be rolling over for you. The CL games aren't ideal, but there are 8 days between the 3 games, where as it could have been 6, so it's not as bad as you might think. They are not going to be worrying about injuries, they will be concentrating on the fact a win takes them top. The CL is all well and good, but you can guarantee there are plenty in the Chelsea camp who would prefer the title. Chelsea I'm sure will fight on both fronts to the best of there abilities, that has always been the Mourinho way, he's never been a manager to focus solely on one or the other. You guys will be favourites for the match, being at home, but it is definitely a massive obstacle that your going to have to overcome if you want your first PL title, make no mistake about that
Again look at the flip side, we are at home, we are no pushovers, our team also have a hunger to win. Take the tinted glasses off and ask yourself whether we've been twatted bigtime by any team this season including them at their place, the answer as you know is no we havent,. I'm not saying we're gonna win it or beat them but your reasons for them being nailed on to beat us don't hold water.
Oh, and just for you shergar in relation to your post on the utd board. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27029755
Can see that you are jealous because United are not going to be in Europe next year except via Inter toto.
First, we need to beat Norwich. Chelsea, will indeed be a different game. I just hope for an early goal. Game should open up nicely if so. I do expect them to try to bully us and try every trick in the book but I don't expect Gerrard to allow it
more like will suarez allow it. we all witnessed e'tto going over the ball in the first minute and taking henderson out... deliberate... i'm willing to bet it was on instruction... just like when lampard broke alonso's ankle. they can't try that at anfield but they can try wind suarez up verbally so he's got to be aware
Where have I said they where nailed on to beat you, I have just said it will be a very tough game, but you are favourites being at home. Chelsea are unbeaten against all the top sides this season, so I think I gave a fair assessment of both sides chances. Your just getting paranoid again
