I think it was more that the Saudis have been guilty of hitting civilian targets rather than military ones that most people were referring to, rather than the rights and wrongs of the conflict background.

we are guilty too… just ask the people of Dresden. It’s about where folk stop with the whatabbouterry. Right here right now Chelski are ****ed. They tried to **** up the PL with the ESL so it’s karma. I ain’t losing sleep.

I feel sorry for most of their fans, but that club has a core of vile bastards that are proud racists and don't care who they upset. The sanction effects on Chelsea could have been far less if the license was less strict, but I wouldn't be surprised if their chanting Roman Abramovich's name during the Ukraine applause ended up ****ing them up very badly.

I believe the sanction is right.

But the club should be allowed to be sold. To a fit and proper person.

The sale proceeds whatever they are go back into Romans pot. Which is seized.

And then the government do whatever they want with it.

But the football club shouldn’t be affected.

100%. We would feel exactly the same if it was us. And for what it's worth, I think it will happen. There's no need for it, it doesn't really do anything apart from harm the club and the fans. I hate what Abramovic built, the abuse of the loan system primarily, and he is definitely linked to Putin (made a lot from taking factories and land). But it's not Chelsea FC's fault, it could've been anyone.

The UK needs to allow the sale but withhold the funds, it's a no-brainer really A football club is not a regular business. I suspect they will continue with the bidding, O&D stuff, etc., then appeal to the government to rubber stamp the sale and work out where the money goes.

Bollox. That's a sales tactic to get as close to his price as he can if ever I've seen one.

I think they'll end up with quite a few interested buyers, and probably get a decent one purchasing them. I doubt it will be another Roman though. They will have money, but it won't be a bottomless pit where they can buy up all the promising young players out there.

Our owners should take down a few boxes of Newcastle shirts and sell them outside their closed shop. There may be a few of their fans ready to jump ship to the next Monied Club now.

I don’t think there is an interview process for prospective fans or Munse would never have been accepted.

It would be good if there was though. Sorry mate you are currently not qualified to support Newcastle. Do a year at Sunderland first and if you have not lost the will to live you can try again.

See I think he would pass the interview. He would confuse the **** out of the interviewer by giving several answers to each question leaving them scratching their heads thinking its them that's dumb <laugh>

Think the UK Gov have really screwed this up, mind. There's a preferred bidder deadline of the 15th March, just let it play out but seize the money, don't allow the transaction to go offshore, etc. But leave the club alone.

I said earlier in this thread, though - PL yet again seem to escape scrutiny when they've been utterly ****ing pathetic once again. Spent all their time and energy cuddling up to Roman to block Saudi investment, even when the Russki wasn't allowed in the bloody country. I mean, he's sole owner and isn't allowed into the UK? How the **** does that pass an owners test?

Masters is probably the only person on this planet happy about the war. Yet again other issues are masking the catastrophic failure of the Premier League. Hopefully this isn't forgotten, even if there are considerably bigger issues in the World right now.

It's bang out of order in my opinion. By all means seize the sale funds and stop any profits being filtered, there must be ways they could seize the accounts etc but allow the club to operate normally within its own means. This no shop, no tickets, megabus transport is a joke.

    100%.

But if the PL acted decisively the second Roman's VISA had been suspended, Chelsea wouldn't be in this mess. As I said, too intent on keeping the cartel happy in my opinion. Doesn't detract from the failure of UK Gov to do things in the right way. Seizing Chelsea doesn't hurt Roman - only the club and its fans.

I think the issue is likely that it's a private transaction. The UK gov can only freeze assets in the UK. If the buyer (assuming non UK) agrees to pay into a Cayman Islands account, the UK gov can't touch it.

So they can either freeze the asset before sale or ask ever so nicely for the funds to be send to a UK bank so they can be frozen. They won't be able to seize funds transferred between 2 foreign nationals away from UK shores. Therefore if they allow the sale then the sanctions really don't mean anything

Can the UK gov sell it (in effect) to dictate those terms?
