Back in 1971, Itook my first trip to Spain, the untouched beaches of Costa Brava etc. I was with 3 Dutch mates in a couple of Citroen 2 CVs. Everywhere we went we were harrassed, strong armed, threatened and once thumped by Guardia Civil, fascist pigs masquerading as Police. They were corrupt racist Nazis of the worst kind and treated everyone under 35 with contempt. The Spanish kids we met hated them and told horrendous tales of brutality and intimidation. Seems nothings' changed with Spanish cops, use the batons first, talk later is their modus operandi.

Benidorm holiday 1977 Someone on our floor threw a water jug at the guitar player that was performing on the terrace of the hotel. Police arrested everyone on that floor and threw them in Prison, we all had to pay equivalent of £100 to get out the next morning 5 in each cell designed for 2 absolute disgrace of a police force a couple of lads from Manchester were beaten black and blue for protesting.
