I'm not sure the Pog would have won them. Against utd he didn't look comfortable fielding long balls. I think he is quite similar to Crouch in that he plays a different way to how you would expect, given his build. I think Zamora was the classic long ball striker, good with his back to goal and holding up play. I think Pog is more of an off-the-shoulder striker, better going forward and chasing balls behind the defence. This is where width becomes important, and it looks as though long term Kaca on the left and Frei on the right would solve that. If they can put crosses into the box ahead of the Pog I think he could score loads.
A lot of that was down to Fulham. They've found us out tactically. You ought to have been more tired considering your efforts at Bolton and we didn't even travel
Fulham outplayed us but do seem to have a bit of a psychological block when it comes to beating us. They were better than us home and away. Best ground in the Prem too. Fulham>QPR all day long
thanks we do have a block over beating you, we were the better team, and if the ref did not give the pen. i was feeling really confident, you looked very tired and running out of fuel, would be surprised if you got 4th on that display
My first post!! I have been following the forum for about 6 months so I thought I had better join up! Went on monday night - tickets care of my wife who won them via Barclay's - and what a great night. I thought we should have won, but a draw wasn't bad. More importantly I thought we played really well. Living on the Isle of Wight, I don't get to see them very often - last game was Chelsea at home last season - but seeing them in the flesh confirmed what I had seen on the box and gathered from on these boards - we have a good team with lots of potential. Over the last few seasons the defence has always seemed solid, but now we have flair in attack as well. All did well on Monday, but Frei was outstanding and I really liked Diarra as well. I have followed Fulham since the 60's - my first 2 seasons of regularly going to the Cottage saw us fall from the old 1st division to the 3rd!! - despite that I remained loyal including several games in the run to the FA Cup final including both semis and the final itself. That summed up being a Fulham supporter - the joy of a last minute winner at Maine Road to take us to Wembley through to having to go home in a Tube full of jubilant West Ham fans after the final!! But being Fulhamish is special - it is a joy for football coupled with a warmth and humour that only true football clubs can bring - we might not win many trophies but we truely love the game and that atmosphere at the Cottage. Spot on Fred and welcome to the board. I think we're very unique as a club and it's great that we're still at the Cottage and able to enjoy some good football. I look forward to reading your cultured comments on further topics. COYW
