I've always liked Steve Bruce, but the way he's waded into the debate is a huge mistake. T o come out in public and say in effect that the jury got it wrong is so insensitive to the victim that I can hardly believe it. The victim by the way is not Ched Evans. Bruce says that he has studied the details of the case more than most, but the fact is that the jury heard ALL of the details. And Evans' case is not coming up for appeal, as Bruce says, since there is no new evidence, just case review. Gordon Taylor keeps banging on as well, without once expressing any sympathy for the victim whose life has been ruined, and is still living life on the run. Evans' website, funded by his fiancee's father, is being investigated by the attorney general for identifying the victim. In his apology-that-is-not-an-apology Evans tried to dissociate himself from these people, well too late I'm afraid. Enough has been said about Evans, but people like Bruce and Taylor should know better.
Taylor is the highest paid union official in the country, and seems to have been in the job forever. Not to mention a huge payout in the phone-tapping scandal. Nice cosy little bubble.
I've missed so much this week so slowly catching up. All I can say is both Taylor and Bruce have come across as dick heads. "I've read more than most". I hate those kind of statements. Get off your high horse.
