Quote: It's not the same competition as the JPT was. Don't be so wet. My response to that is to say that you are correct, the old formula had got stale and had lost it's way, so they had to make changes to freshen it up. As always whenever there is change someone will immediately start to pick holes in it. The original concept was to give teams in the lower echelons an opportunity to reach Wembley in a Cup Final, as so few ever got anywhere in the FA Cup. Now in order to spice it up a bit, they have invited a number of development squads to join in. Presumably this is to give the lower teams a chance to play against better quality opposition, and for the development players to get experience against more experienced senior opposition. Although the ultimate challenge is to win a Trophy, perhaps that isn't the main objective now. Glory hunting has its merits, but there is more to the beautiful game than gong hunting. This isn't a worse Competition, just a different approach, still in its infancy and obviously has its flaws, there is plenty of room for improvement given the right kind of support. When I said "I suggest you should all think again" it was just that, food for thought, it wasn't an "Orders which must be obeyed" type demand. Keep an open mind and put up some constructive criticism rather dismiss it out of hand.
Absolutely, totally, thoroughly, completely agree that unfair on Leagues 1 and 2. Saints doing well....game changer. What can I say....I is weak.
Well apparently the round we are still to play (v Reading) has 32 teams so 3 rounds after that to the final I think.
