Just getting prepared to meet my sons - to drive to Wimbledon..... to support the team.
I don't wish to sound pessimistic - but - I do wonder from where the goals will come.
I see that we've signed a (non) goal machine - Lewis Walker - and I wish him good luck....... but - I can't help feeling that we've become desperate - even before a ball is kicked in anger.

Lewis was on trial at Priestfield, just a few weeks ago - and deemed to not be good enough. He then went to the mighty Wimbledon FC - where again, he was rejected!...

Now - Lewis is back at Gillingham - with a contract - obviously he is cheapenoughforscally

I will be at Plough Lane - giving all the players my support (as long as they give 100% effort )- I hope that 100% will include enough goals to avoid National League next season - - still -- we should be able to beat Southend.

I stayed to the bitter end....... would you believe that I didn't know that Ollie Lee was on the pitch until the start of the 2nd half !!
I have no issue with the win for Wimbledon. They deserved it - albeit, they won't come across many sides so generous with the space/ time and lack of marking as Gills.
It's been mentioned in another forum - that Gills lacked creativity. There was virtually NOTHING to trouble the Wimbledon keeper.. Gills were too slow to pass and move - hence we couldn't get into any promising positions.... It's not just strikers that we need !
If Gills don't get something half decent sorted in the loan market, I won't be surprised if we get relegated.... and Scally will put the Club into Administration - followed by closure - followed by housing and flats... GFC 1893- 2023 R.I.P.

Sadly not the start to the seaon we had hoped for, so understandably dissapointment all round. Although clearly from comments none of us were surprised, we just lived in hope, as Gills fans always foolishly do, at least it wasn't my hard earned money or time wasted, so my thoughts to those that did make the effort.

It's quite clear from the off that Neil Harris is not the problem, however, he is the measuring stick for how far we are or have fallen, because if a quality manager like Harris can't pull a rabbit out of the hat, then absolutely no one can on this planet.

I happened to see by chance a list of transfer fee's at league one clubs a few days ago, it's ok, I haven't forgotten we are league two, but what caught my eye were the staggering transfer fee's for no less than a £Million at many clubs, even clubs like Oxford. So one has to rightly come to the conclusion, that this is now a financial situation well outside of the Chairmans league and financial ability, surely?

How we solve this ongoing problem, is not as simple as removing the Chairman, because someone with even more money would need to come in and replace him, in the meantime and with no disrespect to Harris or the current crop of players, but I'm preparing myself for future National League football, if we have a club left to support at all.

Hopefully a win next league game and back to positivity but we shouldn't fool ourselves, the crystal ball of the future is not foggy or misted up, the path ahead is clear, it's just the 'what do we do about it' and for that I have no answers.
