Get the uncut version of the stand, and 11.22.63 by Stephen King is amazing, I also like The long walk (originally written as Richard Bachman) if my memory is correct

Uncut as opposed to what? (Obvious answer aside)

He means the authors cut, it's how King wanted it to be read and not like the much shorter version that the publishers wanted - they (mistakenly) thought that the original cut was too long to appeal to the reading public. The difference between the two books is so marked I would say that if you aren't reading the authors cut then I wouldn't bother.

I guess I mean how do you tell the difference between the two? My version is close to 1,000 pages so presume it's King's 'cut'.

That's the one, I had a hardback version of it and King explains the reasoning for the longer version in the 'foreward'.

If you can find it, get The Bachman Books, all four written under that pseudonym collected in one volume. Rage is particularly good, but they all are. The Running Man has been made into two film versions now I think.

Rage was taken out of print a long time ago and doesn't appear in recent reissues of the Bachmann books in either digital or physical imprint.

I'd forgotten that, Stephen King let it go out of print because it had been linked to some school shootings. Looking on AbeBooks any copies of the old anthology are going for three figures. Maybe I should sell mine.
