Chelski is okay, quite inventive, even.

Chavski only works if you buy into the idea that Chelsea fans are any more chavvy than other fan-bases, which I don't; every fan-base has its fair share of chavs.

By the way, can any of you lads explain the connection between "Spurs" and "spuds," other the fact that each consists of one syllable and have the first of their three letters in common? I have only ever heard us referred to as "spuds" on this site; and when I have mentioned it to people living in the real world, they've looked at me with an expression like that of a dog being shown a card trick! I know that the juveniles on this site like to call us Spurs fans "spuds" because they think it winds us up, but the name is so pathetically lame that we actually laugh at the person using it. You even have one infamous wum-mod on this site who is so proud of this childish taunt that he has "roasted spuds" in his signature, for some utterly bizarre reason! It is ****-wittedness of the highest order!

Re 'Spuds', I think the charm is in the lameness of it to be honest! I personally enjoy it :)

Whether it derives from this site though, couldn't tell you.

hehe, prior to this board, I used to frequent a site called "Football Matters" and the Pool fans were called Dippers or Bin Dippers.
United fans were called Manure, Arsenal were L'Arse, Spurs were Spuds (so it didn't only come from here), and Chelsea were Chelski (that one was coined by the Sun I think), city were ****ty,

Being fair, the term Chav seems to be used against us mainly by certain posters on a certain board. I wont mention names but it says it all really.

Those lot don't typify match going United fans. In the main they are much like the usual glory boy you will find up and down streets in most towns & cities in England who are totally reliant on the media for any ounce of information.

Take a look on redcafe for a much more balanced view. Many proper United fans on there who actually go and have the additional luxury of a brain.

That's desperate that is, if Arsenal ever win it will you call yourselves "the only team at SB with a European cup" <laugh>

I don't think that is something we need to concern ourselves with in our lifetime mate. :emoticon-0140-rofl:

That's true. That lot are the ultimate plastics. Glory-hunting hangers on. <ok>

Spud's derived from the perception that most of their supporters look like Mr Potato head...Fact. (puts on tin hat and crouches).

<laugh>

Spuds name came about because 'Yids' wasn't really PC. It's is a very tame dig, it makes me laugh that their fans get their knickers in a twist about it though

To be fair, I don't know any Spurs fan who gets overly upset by being referred to as a spud.

Is that cos they're half-baked?.............................I'll get me coat..........................damn I have fur that doesn't work.
