This is the situation as I understand it, at the bottom of the Championship.
Charlton can only get relegated if

A) Oxford win both of their remaining games
B) Charlton lose all 3 of our remaining games
C) Blackburn pick up at least 2 points from their 2 remaining games.

I don't even think there are any goal difference complications - if all three of the above things happen.
If Oxford get 6 points they will have a GD no worse than -13
If Charlton lose all of our games our GD can be no better than -15
If Blackburn draw both their remaining games they will have 51 points (one more than Charlton) so their GD won't matter.

The only GD complication might come if A + B do happen, but Blackburn only pick up 1 point.
Then GD would decide if Blackburn or Charlton finish 22nd.

However, I think there is only about a 0.001% chance that Oxford will win both of their remaining games.
If they don't, we are safe whatever else happens.
We won’t lose all three games anyway. I said at the time we got there, that 49 points would be enough to keep us up and it will be.

Oxford now 1/10 to go down while we are at 66/1.

I think Oxford will win both of their remaining fixtures.

I also believe Blackburn will beat Leicester.

We will draw in Wales and survive in 21st spot.

Phew!
I’ll predict that Oxford don’t win either of their remaining matches and we’ll be comfortable.

I also think Blackburn will lose tonight and may even lose to Leicester on the last day, especially if they know that they are safe by then anyway, which they will be when Oxford draw with Wednesday.

Let’s see what happens………but it think everyone now, bar Reams and DP, accepts that we’re safe.

I'll be happier when we're mathematically safe. Hopefully tonight. It's not been much fun watching us recently. Not only because we're losing at home but our style of play. Launching it long in the direction of Dykes's bonce doesn't work, and I'd like to see Godden and Kelman or TC up front, maybe we'd see something more imaginative.

We’d need to change the midfield as well for Godden, Kelman, TC to work.

But the options are very limited for creative midfield players.

JRC and Knibbs together maybe, but it’s clutching at straws trying to find a creative midfield from our squad.

Carey needs to be dropped. He's only had one assist this season and that was from a corner. All his goals came earlier this season and JRC or Kniibbs deserve a chance.

You are right, of course: Carey has been extremely poor. He brings nothing to the side. In fairness to him, however, he is far from alone in being poor. A complete overhaul of the midfield is required if we are to compete.

Our home form is cause for despair. We have lost to some utter dross, such as Brizzle City and Preston. It makes for a depressing watch. I can hack a defeat after a committed performance, but we've been honking far too often.

And then there were two.

I would say it is now odds-on that this goes down to the last day of the season.
Hull will likely beat us on Saturday, and Oxford know they must beat Sheffield Wednesday.

Squeaky :emoticon-0172-mooni time.

In 2020 under Lee Bowyer we were relegated from the Championship on the last day of the season.
Is history about to repeat itself?

Proper badge, top man. We're in poor form and can't hold a lead. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Proper badge, top man...

I did my homework on this one, as per your earlier mention...

Hope no opposition fans mind me borrowing their Club badges for my avatar in the days leading up to our games.
It is a mark of sporting respect for all our worthy opponents.
After all, no football Club can exist without other Clubs to play :emoticon-0150-hands

Nowadays, and for years actually, the whole day out is what matters more to me than the match. Meeting up with long standing mates* before, and after, the match for a few beers and setting the world to rights.
Of course I still want us to win, but still enjoy match days.

* A few I've known for forty plus years, and travelled tens of thousands of miles to watch Hull with. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Certainly no harm in hoping.
If Oxford cannot beat Wednesday knowing that they have to do so, then United don't deserve to take matters to the last day.
