I agree that a new owner appointing Powell right away would be unfair on Lee Bowyer, as it was pretty unfair on Phil Parkinson last time. But I think I would be very surprised rather than very annoyed. Cannot see it happening though. Chris Powell is doing his job at Southend, surely at least until the end of this season. And if our new owners go to all the trouble of compensating Southend to take CP away from them during the summer, it might look to many as if they have some sort of obsession with him rather than making a balanced decision. If Lee Bowyer does get the rest of the season but his good start fades away, then I can see how the new owners could justify bringing Chris Powell back in the summer. But if Bowyer does well and we either get promoted or get knocked out of the play-offs, a large number of supporters may want LB to be given the job permanently in the summer. If he is then replaced by Powell anyway this will cause some unrest. That would be a shame, and it would make Powell's job harder from the very beginning. In all honesty I can't see Chris Powell being re-appointed by incoming owners. It just seems pretty unlikely to me, albeit my feeling is based on intuition alone. There are still many important things we just don't know yet, like who the new owners are and what they will want to do.
Well there you go chaps. It seems the numbers on the Argyle sites who thought this was a banana skin match were spot on. Well done for the result and perhaps we can see you at Wembley for a decider.
I watched Lee-ie's training last Friday... it was completely different to how the Scouser used to run it...has the first team squad playing 11 v 11 and kept shouting tactical instructions while refing the game.... he had Grant Basey running the line also giving tactical advice .... from time to time Lee would stop the game to change the emphasis of tactics to say closing down or getting the ball wide quickly.... the Scouser's training seemed very one dimensional at times. I gather Grant Basey took pre match warm up on Saturday with Skipper rather than Lee getting involved?
I missed the warm-up, due to problems with the trains, which Journey Planner didn't mention. It sounds as though Bowyer means business. Hopefully he won't be hankering to go back to his fishing in France.
