Bowyer has to go. Smyth is a forward Bowyer played him at right wing back. Three of their goals came down his side. No excuse when you have Matthews on the bench. Oshilaja who is right footed was played on the left side of a three. Pearce who is left footed was played on the right of a three. Constant meddling that isn't working. We scored four at home against Rochdale and we didn't win. Rochdale were there for the taking.
Must admit I'm not really very upset this morning. That feeling has come over me that I haven't felt since around 2009; We are crap - in the pure footballing sense again, unsullied by feelings of injustice about ownership of the Club or other 'political' considerations. Bizarrely, I find that feeling, so familiar from my young days in the late 1970's and 1980's, strangely comforting. Take solace fellow fans. We truly have got our Charlton back
The benefit being we get to appreciate the good times more. Our days in the money league are a long and distant memory. Will that period be repeated? I'm not sure, but you can never say never.
The second half last night showed that we do have the players, all it needs is to play them in their natural positions. The way we fought and scrapped also showed that Bowyer hasn't lost the dressing room, and if he stops overthinking it and just puts out his best team in their best positions we are a different prospect from the recent dismal performances. Playing them out of position has made them look worse than they are. Sir Bobby Robson hit on his best team almost by accident and came home a hero in 1986, let's hope the same happens to Bowyer.
The frustrating thing is we do have the players. I feel another Manager would get more out of these players.
Yes, the second-half performance answered the question about the players' ability. The manager bears responsibility for the abysmal first-half, but credit him for making the correct changes, I'm hoping that it's a pivotal moment for him. Schwartz looks the bollox, Famewo will soon be back and he accepts that Millar is better out wide, so there is hope.
On paper, you have the best squad in your league. Unfortunately, you have one of the poorest managers. If the Viking acts now, you should walk into the playoffs, if not you will struggle to stay in the top half.
Depends on whether or not we kick on from the second-half performance, or revert to the first-half. Like two different teams.
Laughable. You are taking over from Kojak(in her abscence) from being the hysterical poster on here. One of the poorest
Bowyer has admitted he made a mistake playing Smyth at wingback. The Great Dane isn't going to sack him, so we have to hope we're at a turning point.
He keeps doing it though, and publicly calling out players - should keep that in house!! Have you ever seen Sir Alex, Wenger, Klop, Sir Bobby, Et Al slag off a player to the press? Just ammo for opposing players to use against that player.
You're right there, I was worried that the players would turn against him, but he seems to have survived that, and last night admitted his own error in playing Smyth out of position. So there are grounds for optimism.
Bowyer will get it right in the end. Look at Chris Powell. We nose-dived into mid-table a few weeks after he took over, then next season 101 points 2020-21 is a miserable grind anyway. Empty stadiums and players behaving like wazzocks. Bring on 2021-22, we'll all be cheering the lads on to glory, unbeaten at the Valley all season
