Well, another birthday where Charlton played the part of the horrible mother-in-law who turns up with the intention of spoiling the day for everyone else. At the minute, I am only interested in results to keep us in the hunt while a lot of off the pitch stuff gets (hopefully) resolved. So this was the antithesis of that. it sounds like we played well, and even looked quite good up front, though without really making their keeper work too hard. However, we leaked three goals, two of them in the final minutes where the promotion chasing home team were set the task of seeing out a narrow win against a team a little below them in the table. I've taken a long deep breath before posting - I wasn't even there so I'll avoid anything precise. It's hard to put this down to a bad day at the office as it resembles too many saturdays this term. It certainly didn't sound like a lack of effort or pride, but maybe formation and the substitutions. That points the finger at the manager. Again, I can't be bothered to criticise as I wasn't there but a general complaint is that from august Karl has said he has a squad he is happy with. I can put my hand on my heart and say the results and performances are certainly not what a lot of fans are happy with. Considering he has prospective new owners looking at the state of the club, he has hardly stamped his name in the group of untouchables in the club if new owners decide to make changes - quite the opposite. Despite his occasional awfullness in interviews (and there seem too many of these) I quite like him as a manager. But not to the extent I'd worry if he got the sack. He's bang average, and we need better than that.
Agree Ken, and he can only be 'happy with the squad' because he knows that's the best he's going to get with the present circumstances. Lost his best player again, and if he had a choice he wouldn't have signed so many loans.
