I always think a club needs two for every position, so Morgan, St Ledger, Whitbread, ????. At fullback Konch, De Laet, Kennedy and Moore. My concern, as raised in the previous post, is that if De Laet is not up to it, are Moore and Kennedy good enough to come in? You don't just need reserves for injury and suspension cover. You also need them to create competition and come in if players go out of form. We don't want to be limping towards the January transfer window as we seem to do every season, we need to be good enough now.
Liam Moore has proved he can cover 1 or 2 games if he is needed but his isnt ready to play centre half week in and week out. Its going to be very unlikely 2 of Morgan, Whitbread and St. Ledger miss a game anyway. Had Whitbread been signed earlier he would have been playing now
Seriously though AKCJ , wishing a player gets a career ending injury was a bit stupid . It's only footy after all..
sugar-coat? that doesn't even make sense as a response to what i'd said, given that i didn't ask you not to... If we're of no interest to you please put me on your ignore list, i do care about what leicester fans think (as much as any club's fans) so i'll be on this board in the future giving my opinion as an outsider looking in and welcoming honest opinions of Hull City at the same time. I enjoy hearing what other fans think which is why i soley use this site and not pure Hull City ones. Perhaps there's some advice for you, if you don't care about Hull City stick to FoxesTalk given that Not606 has more Hull posters than any other team at this level (and most in the prem). Also, the statement "good to see you guys on our board again..." obviously wasn't honest as you clearly don't feel that way, it was a sarcastic sly remark which could easily be called sour
OK, so let's say Moore can probably cover suspensions (personally, I'm not so sure, think we might have won tonight with a tighter defence), but injuries can happen at any time, it's not impossible for two centre-backs to be injured at the same time. Even assuming only one is injured, what if one of your remaining centre-backs goes off the boil? Players need to be mentally fit as well as psychically fit. So then you have are either forced to play him or scramble around in the loan market. I'd rather we didn't have to do that. We certainly don't need to do it for financial reasons.
I understand but look at how St. Ledger was last season when Mills and Bamba was playing everyweek and St. Ledger was on the bench. If we get another defender that will then mean someone is even going to make the bench and that could have a negative effect if they take getting dropped like St. Ledger and Mills did last year. Maybe a season long loan would be the answer where were in no obligation to play him and if he kicks off we can just send him back.
I've just arrived home and can't be bothered to read through 7 pages. how did Leicester get on at Charlton? Another easy win?
You seem to take offence to my honest opinion. Obviously an implication you're prefer I'd said I care. Which would have been a sugar-coated lie. The "good to see you guys on our board again..." comment was an implication that you lot seem to think about us a lot more than we do about you. I have no idea how much time our fans spend on your forum, since I rarely go on there, but I'd wager it's a lot less than you lot spend on here. I don't really have a problem with you guys being on here when you're trying to be civil, which I acknowledge your were probably trying to be to the best of your ability, but it's frustrating when I'm trying to read comments from people that are at or listening to the game and all I see are comments from people that making comments for comments sake, many of whom, whether they write it or not, would prefer us to lose. And since I doubt there is a Hull fan alive that wants to see Pearson succeed, I don't see how any of you can be "honest" and impartial.
That's something players have to live with. I think manager's having to ego massage subs constantly is something I can't abide in the modern game. Players should be more like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The guy build a career from the subs bench. He always had himself fit and ready and never gave up waiting for his chance. If a player is good enough, he will get his chance. This is what upset me about that Nugent tweet - one game into the season on the subs bench and he is, or appears to be, moaning. It's wrong. I see a loan as a last option, but it's clear we need someone. I believe we've already lost three points because of this issue, which we all know existed several weeks ago.
we're clearly misinterpreting what each other means, so let's just agree to disagree for the record your opinion that all hull fans don't want Pearson to succeed is quite far from the truth, though given you'll have gotten that opinion of Hull fans from this site, it's entirely understandable you'd think so. I really don't mind how any team in this league does, as long as we do better
Well fair play to you then...not sure I'd be so magnanimous if our manager walked out on us for a club in the same league! Good luck tomorrow.
Yeah, it would be more of a veteran than a youngster that needs experience. Someone that can be called back if necessary. Hopefully from the Prem.
Like who? If he is available for loan a less off team would loan him and play him. Or not play andbe 4th choice in the prem.
Addick in peace. Don't beat yourselves up too much, we could have had no complaints if you had snatched a draw tonight. You looked threatening in the first half too, it's just that we scored with more or less our only 2 chances. But that's BWP and Yann for you (I was worried he was going to run all the way to your end when he scored, thankfully he didn't get there). Best of luck for the rest of the season
Thanks for the comments Balackaddick (great name by the way!). I think we're all happy with the way we attacked,we're more concerned with our defence at the moment. We're struggling without St Ledger and Whtbread. I think you did have more chances - Kasper made some good saves. Anyway, sounded a good match, and congrats. Let's hope for an equally thrilling game at our place.
