Quite possibly. There are three teams who could overtake us on Tuesday if results do not go our way. These are the Boxing day fixtures that are now relevant to our league position; Southend V Charlton (1pm) Bradford V Peterborough (3pm) Portsmouth V AFC Wimbledon (3pm) Bury V Rotherham (3pm) Should we lose away at Southend, a draw for Peterborough would be enough to see them overtake us, as would Portsmouth and Rotherham if they win. Charlton could be travelling to the DW Stadium in 9th place. I would not expect us to lose at Roots Hall but even if we take a draw, Peterborough and Portsmouth could still overtake us should they win.
Marshall was by no means the worst player on the pitch yesterday, but I was disappointed in his lack of attacking ability. He had numerous opportunities to take on his marker but always opted for the pass back to the defender. Weren't we told he was one of the fastest wingers in the league? Looks pretty slow to me. Magennis on the other wing has got a lot of criticism which seems a bit harsh. Both wide men, and KAG when he came on, had it all to do on there own numerous times, without support. It doesn't help when Reeves spends his time hiding away. The only player we have who can take on his man is DaSilva.
What puzzles me is why Robinson let his mouth run away with him again, talking up January transfers. Barely a week ago he went to great lengths to make public how Duchatelet had failed to sanction the signing of Leon Best, even for 2 months. Either Duchatelet has pledged to change his ways after 4 parsimonious years, or Robinson is talking boloks. I know where my money is.
I'm sure he just makes it up as he goes along. We put up with it when the team's winning, but those were the days, eh?
