I won’t be there tonight, and neither will 20,000 other Charlton fans. As @baraettmattesvensson said to me yesterday (we bumped into each other), when you can clearly see that 2 in every 3 seats at the Valley are empty, that’s when you are in trouble. That ratio could rise to 3 in 4 tonight. Team news for us would seem to centre around whether Solly will be asked to play two games in four days, and whether Fosu and Clarke return for Marshall & Reeves. Anyone going ? Just Sell The Club.
I'd love to go but conserving my energy for Depeche Mode at the 02 tomorrow. "Just sell da cloooooooobbbbb".
I'll be there. I thought Billy Clarke was out for a couple of weeks, but I might be remembering it wrong. I don't think tonight's game will be played with the same intensity as the MK Dons match, but I'm still expecting a solid win over poor Rochdale, 2-0 or 3-0 On a grim November evening we will be lucky to get 6,000 fans in.
They may as well close the East Stand for this one. I won't be there. A better performance from Reeves should see us get another 3 points.
We know we can rely on you for an honest comment on tonight's attendance Lardi. Bexley Boy will no doubt report a 15,000 stonker.
I’m there tonight, but that’s purely because a few mates from Rochdale are down for this one. I think this will be one of those games where we will struggle to break down the opposition again, and walk away with a draw. 1-1
Losing Fosu is a really serious blow - outstanding in so many games for us to date. Fortunately the Apologists Pin Up girl gave us a strong squad, so we can call upon Dodoo
Maybe 5,500. About 200 away fans. The closed blocks of seats in the lower West are beginning to deteriorate. Dirty and getting covered in bird sh*t.
Difficult first half. We started too casual, didn't seem to take Rochdale seriously. They opened us up and scored a simple goal, then rattled a ball along our goal line off the inside of a post five minutes later. Chants of anthems gave way to shouts of frustration as we dicked around for another 20 minutes. Finally some pressure from the angry fans spurred us into some pressure and a scrappy equaliser. Rochdale are limited and clumsy, but they are up for this game. We should have easily enough to put them down in the second half, but we still look shaky at the back mostly down to Konsa. Marshall is playing well. 1-1 at HT
I’ve seen a couple of photos of tonight’s “crowd” @lardiman I thought Seriously Boring said we were growing a new fan base?
I was going to go, but then was stuck at Heathrow Airport, got home and was, mmmmmm, **** it. I’ll watch The Walking Dead.
We can only beat who is put in front of us, and Rochdale were very poor, for all their perseverance and physicality. In the end it's the 3 points that matter. That was largely a performance to forget though, despite an improvement in the second half. There were a few decent showings, from Marshall, Holmes and Amos who was brave, getting badly clattered once. Karlan Ahearne-Grant wandered around like a lost little boy, losing out far too often. He played one decent cross-field pass and got big ironic cheers. Fans were laughing at him in the end. Charlton were on top in the second half, though Dale had their chances. If we play as casually as that in our next two games, the better opposition will make us pay.
I thought Rochdale were far better than us for 70% of the game and should've been 2-0 up. We spent the whole game diving and I'd be annoyed if I supported Rochdale. Konsa and Kashi were poor again today, Konsa goes down too easily and Kashi's passes were dodgy. Winning when you're rubbish is promising though, little else positive to say about the game apart from our bright 20mins in the second half. Special mention goes out to Sarr who seems to lack any sort of football brain but has weirdly good technique.
thought we were crap first half and should have been losing as they hit the post after they scored. second half we were still rubbish for the first ten, and then we stepped it up a bit. thought our goals were a bit fortunate. playing one up front for us makes it look like we're playing for draws. we desperately need another striker in january. it actually pushed us up the field having KAG on, who isnt even a footballer. thought the konsa/sarr partnership didnt work too well. each cross looked worrying. we had nothing on the bench and i'm beginning to think reeves has mugged us all.
