**** this mickey mouse cup lets concentrate on the league..................in my view this cup should be scrapped and an extra place in europe i havent been to one since we played wimbledon dont bother with this stupid cup everyone drops players and dont play their full teams even the top flight dont take it seriously
Cottee says that Mambo has slotted into Right Back and got skinned straight away by the PNE winger Quite surprised if this stays the same as I thought Leon Cort was the one who could play anywhere in Defense where as I thought Mambo was solely a Centre Back...
Damn back to 2nd, Brentford have gone top - didnt realise they were so close (they've taken a 1-0 lead @ home to Colchester) Hate the start of a season as everyone is so bunched up!!
bollocks 2-0 - Goodnight, pretty good season for us to reach the Carling Cup 2nd Round (see am always positive )
Not over yet but even if Preston bang in a couple more, I'll shed no tears. If it turns out to be a kick up the backside for saturday, fair enough, but imagine if we picked up an important injury playing this competition!
Yehhhh Tosan Popo comes on to make his debut replacing Danny Green (who I guess isnt fully fit after illness) - Well done lad
All over lost 2-0 but we're top of the League, Saturday we go to Rochdale (got my ticket anyone else going?) Also means we wont have to face Southampton next week and means we'll have a full week to concentrate on the Chesterfield game without any distractions
****ing hell didnt i say look out for stevenage a few days ago seen their score tonight 5-1 vs sheff wed thats the end of megson i reckon he wont last up to xmas.its worth a few quid on stevenage with us for promoation told u i had inside info on them!
2 0f our best players in the first game Francis and Pritchard were poor tonight. Preston closed us down well and we never got going till the last 5 minutes. Also very annoyed that Doc is still ahead of Mambo.
On a totally separate point - I see Parky has taken Bradford into the relegation zone. Nothing changes then.
Sullivan - 5 (average kicking, could have done better with the first goal maybe) Evina - 5 (decent attacking play) Doherty - 4 (useless old man) Cort - 5 (decent presence but looked slow) Francis - 1 (Subbed at half time for a CB, says it all. Was so **** I cant even begin to explain) Green - 5 (Some good play, but looked way off the pace, hope hes back fit soon) Hughes - 2 (useless lump that didnt even bother fighting for the midfield. no-one was worse than this guy. Except Francis. Pritchard - 3 (Got lost without a decent central partner - where was Alonso!? Bover - 4 (Decent shots but not ready for first team action) Benson 3 - (Did nothing) Euell 4 - (If this is him fit, he wont have any part to play other than late cameos) Subs: Mambo (4 - out of position, not his fault), Wagstaff 7 (only good player), Popo (? - Had already left) Awful awful performance tonight, wonder if they had been told to get out of the competition to focus elsewhere. Never want to see Francis or Hughes anywhere near the first team ever! JapAddick
You're being too harsh on Hughes there Japan, he wasn't brilliant but linked up ok in midfield. Also thought the Doc had a reasonable game, won everything in the second half in particular. Green was poor, failed to put a decent cross in all game, which is supposedly his best attribute. Pritchard struggled but showed flashes of creative and combative energy. Preston put out a stronger team than us and it showed, Adam Barton ran the game in midfield. Very professional performance from them.
Don't see why. It is never "great" to play crap. If you mean because we're top of the league that means nothing at this stage. We have yet to play one of the other top eight teams. We have played four relegation strugglers and three mid-table teams so we have proven nothing yet. If we are still top on Oct 2nd after playing both MK Dons and Sheff Utd away then we can start to get excited. Also, when we reach the sharp end of the season we may find that we will regret Huddersfield taking all three points off Sheff Utd as I rate the 'Udders as the bigger threat to us. I was surprised that the Owls got battered, but even that puts our home draw with them in a poor light.
Sullivan 6 - made some decent saves but punched most rather than catching them. Decent kicking. Francis 3 - appauling. I do sympathise with him but tonight was one of his worst games in a CAFC shirt. Doherty 6 - better than usual but still too slow. His headers were more on target at least. Cort 7 - very solid and good in the air. Possibly too slow, time will tell. Evina 6.5 - outpaced their winger and played pretty well. I'd definately have him over Wiggins at LB. Green 5.5 - worst performance I've seen from him, hopefully its just him still recovering from flu. Pritchard 6 - managed to jump high enough for most headers but pretty anonymous. Hughes 6 - some good passes but too anonymous. Bover 4 - really can't see what CP saw in him. I know he's young but every game I've seen him in hes been dismal. Benson 5.5 - a few good touches and a few bad ones, didnt get enough decent service. Euell 5.5 - pretty poor really, was alright towards the end of the 2nd half but too many poor touches. SUBS: Mambo 5 Wagstaff 6.5 Popo (not enough touches to judge) Pretty bad performance and dissappointing considering the result (and performance) against Reading from 9 of the 11 players playing today. On the other hand its the 3rd most important competition we're in so not the end of the world, and incidently we're top of the league. Plus I couldn't really be bothered going down to Southampton on a Tuesday night to watch a game in an empty St Marys Stadium and probably lose. Bring on the FA Cup.
