What the absolute ****???? 4-4, more than 7 minutes stoppage played and the ref doesn't blow and Charlton get one more chance and score. Unbelievable
Well well, need serious defense sort out. 3 soft goals. Fascinating game. Our strengths and our weaknesses exposed. All credit to Charlton.
Came on for burns so odd formation at the end. Feels like a defeat, all the good work thrown away. Everyone apart from Portsmouth won as well with Plymouth left to play
We’ve got away with this a few times. It might not hurt us for this to happen so we change our mindset and start killing off teams instead of sitting back and bringing on extra defenders.
Yeah but Yorkie, how many times does it take before it changes our mindset, i think it's the 4th time we have let a 2 goal lead slip.
At 4-2 in stoppage time you would think we had killed them off. Some lessons in seeing a game out are needed.
To happen once.....it happens, twice is just about forgivable, three times is not good but four times is a disgrace!! Still don't rate Wolfy, i dunno what it is but i think he is poor at defending, yes he can run with it and ok on the ball but i would rather a defender that can bloody defend first and foremost!!
Completely agree. Also need a leader at the back. Going back to the Burley team, we had Holland as captain and Mogga in defence who was the organiser. Not sure who does that role in the current tram but think Keogh would be well suited to it. Everyone’s allowed 1 poor game and this was Walton’s but considering the performances he’s put in since he’s been here, he’s more than allowed it
Losing a two goal lead twice (the second time in the space of a few minutes) is a massive gut punch. As Royston says, the result today feels like a loss. The squad is clearly talented, McKenna clearly has us playing the best football for years, and we have no problems scoring and dominating games. Usually, this is enough to secure wins consistently, which we have been doing by and large. Defensively, we get exposed far too often and concede a worrying amount of goals from set pieces. The latter comes down to coaching, and I hope we iron out those mistakes over the course of this season. The second main issue I sense is the psychology of the team. As a club, we haven’t had a credible promotion run since 2014/15. I wonder how much effect that has on a team that hasn’t had that baggage, but has a core of players that have only played together for around a season and a half.
Don’t understand the anti-Wolf brigade at all. Our problems have nothing more to do with him than any of the other players. He was a key component of the defence that kept clean sheet after clean sheet last season and of having one of the best records this. They are training ground and psychological issues.
We have time to put things right. It is about game management as much as one or two below par performances. Seeing out a ridiculous 9 f...g mins is something our players should be able to do. Walton had a rare mare. Woolfy has lost his mojo, and yes, we had the best defensive record for 2 months. Maybe Keogh starts. Not convinced by TJJ. Its one game, we are all shocked, but KM has work to do.
Two goals up at Sheff Wed and we draw, two up at Vale and we scrape a win, two up twice yesterday and we draw, same old chaos in and around the 6 yard area costing us valuable points, we should be walking this league but our ever rising tally of goals against is holding us back to such an extent that it may cost us promotion, ok i thought this fixture would be tough as Charlton are a good side and i would have taken a point beforehand, but being weak in defence is becoming more and more commonplace and needs sorting out right now before we drop more careless points and get overtaken by the likes of Sheff Wed.
