Crikey that means he pocketed £5.46m from his signing on fee

Any ideas of who could replace him, instantly? Because they'd have to hit the ground running if we were to get rid of Hugo. No, he's no Messi but realistically we'd have to do pretty well to replace him in January. I'm sure if we offered him a new deal he'd take it, so I doubt there's a risk of losing him for nothing.

I wouldn't count on him blindly signing - I think he is more likely to go on a free at the end. I'm sure he would agree to a new deal on his current terms but that isn't going to happen - both money and length of the contract must be sticking points. He's spoken about Levante quite recently http://m.tribalfootball.com/articles/4050910. He's coming up to 30 so this is his last big contract.

If we were to go up he wouldn't feature much and if we stay down we can't really afford him. Suspect there will be some brinkmanship with us tabling a low ball offer and relying on him not finding anything higher.

He loves a retweet, and a few weeks ago he was retweeting stories about him wanting a new contract here. He'll know he won't get big money (and let's be honest, we don't know for sure what he's on) and whether he'll find anywhere bigger is debatable.

In any case I find the notion that we can do better than him worrying. We're a club in the bottom half of the english second tier, after all, and Kit surely won't have many contacts outside of the youth and Wales setups.

I still thin his replacement is Ross Mc - he played as main striker for Leeds and was Championship top scorer - we do have LVC, George Williams, Pat Roberts if we can keep him for creating for Ross. Ross knows how to bang them in....it's just that we are playing him in a different role.

I wouldn't worry too much him leaving. As many said he is scoring goals but also missed a few. I know Kit doesn't rate Smith but him and McC can do the job...

We will be fine... It all depends on the money...

And we still haven't seen anything of Taggart, another one who might be a better option up front.

I know Hugo has got the goals this season, but whenever I've seen him (admittedly, not that often) I haven't been impressed with anything other than his enthusiasm and willingness to work hard. He'll do for now, but it's worrying if he really is the best we've got in that position.

There seems to be mixed feelings about Hugo, stay or go, queries over his rumoured 75k per week
    is he worth it.
We defiantly need to strengthen, a scenario I would put up, take 4m entice Dembele back,(he does not seem
to fit into Spurs plans) and we could defiantly afford his wages. Mc C at CF and try along side one of , Woodrow Dembele, Taggart Smith.
who knows there could be a combination which sees us climbing the table this season, and contenders next.
    Thoughts anyone.

I'd love to see it happen, kunye, not only for his effectiveness on the pitch, but also because it would give us the chance to use the 'Two Moussa Dembeles, there's only two Moussa Dembeles' chant. That said, I suspect that if Dembele the elder leaves Spurs (which could very easily happen) he'll get offers from other Premier League clubs and I don't see him stepping down a division if he doesn't have to. He would probably have offers to move to a decent club in a decent foreign league as well. Sadly, I don't think he'll be back in a Fulham shirt for the forseeable future. If we manage to get back into the Premier League in the next couple of years, maybe then, but not at the moment.

Although not related directly to the sale of H G there was an interesting article today.
"Spurs full back Kyle Naughton is expected to leave in the January window.
Returning to fitness the 26yr old has done little to convince boss M P. On his return to first
team duty, he has picked up 2 red cards in 5 appearances."

Could he be the sort of player we need to bolster our defence, ok his aggression seems to go
over the top at times, but he has a turn of speed and can play on either flank ? ?.
I know some may say would he drop down a division, why not, when we were on the ascendancy
some 10rs or so ago, we seemed to bid and get some names.

I think he's a more realistic possibility to drop down a division, being lower profile than the likes of Dembele. Worth a try.
