Spot on Nug, but youngsters are often inconsistent even the top players have dips(sterling for one). I think these days often players won't get the backing to come through these spells, it doesn't take fans long to write a player off.... K'nudsen is only 21 and for me that's young and we should give him a break also Mings was often slated(often by me) but he did enough to attract much interest and a big money move......

Point taken, Weighty. For all the talk on here about giving youngsters a chance and overhauling the squad, how quickly will people jump on the team's back during this 'transitional period' (ugh, forgive me for the cliché) after being used to at least competing for a play-off spot for the last couple of years? Patience is already in short supply around Portman Road, what will it be now, almost 15 years stuck in this division?

I think the right blend of youth and experience, with a couple of established signings and a more attractive playing style will gradually get fans back on board. But that's still papering over some of the more deep-seated issues this club face, such as our growing debt and the increasing disconnect between supporter and owner.

I believe we paid a small fee (£10k)for Mings from Crawley or somewhere,as an 18/19 year old rather than bring him through the ranks, but still the sort we want.

Edit.It was Chippenham as a 20 year old,at least I got the fee right!

Nuggets the board are desperate for cat 1 - Milne was basically jizzing his pants over cat 1 the entire 2 hours he spoke to us at the SW supporters club - well a good chunk of time was about this.

It was more the fact the big clubs are doing all they can to prevent he likes of us being cat 1 - which explains a bit to me now why we failed it by less than 1%.

He revealed the club were absolutely 100% certain we'd made cat 1 when we put it in before, and the goalposts had changed somewhat.

From what I gather we won't be trying for a while and he seemed to have a very annoyed look on his face when grilled about it - as though it had really riled people at the club.

Seems a shame but so long as we produce a couple any rate.

Wasn't the reason given at the time that we passed on all the criteria apart from our recent dire record of bringing youngsters through into the 1st team?

I obviously don't know if that was genuine, but if it was we haven't done a whole heap since to help matters.

Reactions: San Diego
Knudsen is 23 not 21. He needs a big summer to push on bulk up and improve.

I don't want him an auto pick next season - if he pushes on fine, if not he needs to be replaced simple. Bang average.

I've not been his biggest fan,but thought he had one of his better games yesterday.

I stand corrected.........although that's still pretty young to some of us...<laugh>........to be fair to him I will judge him next season as I think it does take time to get used to the English game also I'm not sure we had a better option at the club...so he has had to do his learning in the firing line as it were.

We perhaps DON'T currently have a better option at left back than Knudsen. That isn't to say we cannot look to pick up another full back next season.

When he's good he's good but too often he's very poor.
