Well played lads Sounds like it was the perfect away performance, and your defence was solid enough to stop us getting any real chances. We've done that to both Blackburn and Birmingham recently so I guess we were due to suffer it ourselves. All the best for the rest of the season.
Fair play to you captain. Yes hampy we're still in touch. And as we all know pretty much anything can happen in this league. We are capable of stringing some results together. More than. So a little bit of consistency and who knows. I'm keeping optimistic.
It was the perfect Away performance and Mick got his tactics spot on! A clean sheet is very pleasing and Berra was exceptional so I hope that we can take this new found confidence into our next 2 home games. Win these 2 or indeed collect 4 points from them and we will definately be at the races! God it is so good to be at least in with a chance of doing something as opposed to constantly looking over our shoulders as we have been these last few seasons! Well done Mick and keep grinding them out!
Exactly JWM, four points from play offs but more importantly eleven from relegation and looking up, not down.
In a much better place than last season. It's nice to have more positive thoughts than negative. Onwards and upwards. Blackburn mid week I believe. Most certainly winnable.
Think you're going a bit overboard Warky. Was not one of our better performances by all accounts, but under Roy Keane we so often outplayed the other side and ended up losing so I know which way round I'd rather have it. Mick McCarthy is one of the best defensive coaches I've ever seen - although we rode our luck at times and we were up against a side who struggle for goals at home. The important thing is we can grind out a result like that. We've had so many games like that and I think two months ago we'd have let the lead slip so it is an incredibly massive 3 points for us to have won and puts us right back in touch.
I rarely saw us outplay any team under Roy Keane, it was terrible football and it didn't even work, under Jewell we outplayed alot of teams but usually crumbled when we couldn't take advantage of our dominance. Keane and Mick actually deployed pretty similar tactics it's just that Mick is actually good at deploying them and knows what he's doing. Agree with you on the defensive side though, I don't think I've EVER seen as solid a back line as we've had now, we've had far better players but as a unit we look very strong and resiliant, I geuss this is because generally in the past we've had more attack minded teams, off the ball in general I think it's one of the best Ipswich teams I've seen however on the ball probs one of the worst or least expansive. Again Cresswell adds another assist to the list, it's crazy how important a LB is to us getting goals but hopefully with Taylor and Hunt getting back to full fitness and this new guy from Villa adding a bit of pace and directness and the dropping of playing 2 DM together we will show a little bit more going forward in the future. The season's going along nicely still in touching distance of the playoffs, if it continues that way (which I expect it to) who knows with a bit of luck we might be able to sneak in. As I've said I think we'll over the course of a season be one of the more consistent teams whereas I can see others going on good and bad runs which will mean the makeup of the league can change quite quickly. God forbid if McG and Cresswell get injured though, the season will be a grind!!!
