Well we both must have watched different games then, but the stats say we had more shots,Corners etc and they had less second half.
I don’t buy this ‘teams have rumbled us’ stuff. People were saying this back end of last season, like it hadn’t been happening all season. For me, any lessons learnt by opposing sides had been learned by August last year. Sides parked the bus... or were forced to park it, by our press and possession/movement, tried to keep it tight and nick one on the break. When we take our chances we win, when we don’t we lose. It’s not rocket science and nothing new in my opinion.
Dunno what you watched but I was sat in the stand at a ground in charlton.. maybe the wrong ground or the wrong charlton. It is in Manchester isn’t it? Most of those ‘chances’ came late on. We got a head of steam up eventually but the urgency came too late.
So is late on not in the second half then ? My mistake then I thought it was part of the second half. They also had no shots and no corners second half Inc late on.
Just got in, obviously didn't see the game or listen to any commentary so can't really comment on how we played, but I will say this, its spoiled my ****ing weekend again, the ****s
Thought i’d Post it again for you chesh. I’m not denying we put the squeeze on at the end. When they lost any pretence at trying to get out of their own half. Not unexpected really. I’d hoped the half time changes would give us a sense of urgency. Only klich seemed to grasp that until the clock started ticking. Presume you watched it on a stream?
Their two shots in the first half both came in the act of scoring the goal, so it was one chance really. They had one shot in the second half. They definitely had a corner as well! Actually they had better attacking opportunities in the second half just fcked them up.
With West Brom on Tuesday and back to London for Nillwall next weekend it could be a pretty **** week.
Bielsa has given us the best football I’ve seen in more than a dozen years so saying anything negative about him or the team feels wrong. I can’t understand how he has transformed a bunch of below average championship players into promotion contenders yet he can’t seem to repeat it when we get a player who on paper should be head and shoulders above what we had. Bamford, Izzy, Costa, Douglas if Bielsas magic worked on them we’d have gone up last season and if not we’d be top now. Forshaw was outstanding before his injury, why was he not starting? I can’t help but wish Bielsa would mix it up a bit. Play two up front, play a number 10 Alioski isn’t on form, he isn’t a LB Ayling is back but not selected, Harrison is off the boil, I don’t understand why Bielsa refuses to change his starting line up before kick off. Next match we play there might be one change but we all know he won’t change 2-3 changes that we seem to be crying out for
You're posting the wrong post twice, you originally asked if I thought we had played better second half, I said yes I thought we did, and stats saying we had more shots, Corners etc and they had none or you say maybe 1 shots or corners or goals in the second half lead me to believe that to be right. Yes I watched on a stream.
Nope. I quoted the post where I said we only upped our game at the end of the second half. You were picking an argument over something I wasn’t disputing. Your previous post was talking about bielsa hamstringing us with his first half selections... like we’d had some kind of half time epiphany. I get you’ve wanted us to play Eddie and Bamford, maybe it will work in the future, but today the chances only really came after Bamford was subbed. Even then, it looked more like them getting nervy and tired than it did some genius tactical or player switch.
So when do we see our goalkeeper make the brilliant save because seems to me anything on target goes in our net.
I never said we played better when Bamford was on, just better second half, your making up quotes that I never said.
My ratings Casilla 3. One thing to do, messed it up. Dallas 6, not terrible, not up to his recent level Cooper 6 - not much wrong, distribution has been better White 5 - lost his man for the goal, gifted them a chance second half with a suicide pass, got turned a few times. Alioski - 5 didn’t offer much, but change was tactical Shak - 5 bit of a mixed bag. Again wasn’t the worst but change was tactical Phillips 3 - probably the worst i’ve Seen him play. Dispossessed quite a few times, rolled and skinned a few times, passes astray, first touch clumsier than usual, a few of his corners were almost air shots. Cracking player but not today. Klich 7 MOM - most of the good stuff we did came through him, worked tirelessly with and without the ball. Harrison 5 - huffed and puffed nice touches and control but end product? Costa 5 - had some nice touches in the first half, but not involved enough. More involved second half but no end product Bamford 4 - just not happening - completely mistimed header from first half’s Clearest chance. Subs: Eddie 6 - looked a threat but not much quality service, has a couple of chances will be disappointed didn’t convert 1 Forshaw 5 - unspectacular not much wrong but didn’t impact game as he’d have liked (great chance in injury time, blocked - was his arm pulled?) Roberts 5 - we started to put pressure on after he came on, but not sure he was behind much of it.
Absolutely bang on casilla is an older version of peacock Farrell. He is absolutely hopeless this is the first change bielsa needs to make but he won't because there will be too much egg on orta's face
I didn’t quote you on Bamford. You have however been saying for weeks you want to see Bamford and Eddie play together (a perfectly reasonable suggestion). You then say bielsa’s first half selection’s are hampering the team and we were much improved after the break. Forgive me if i’ve Joined dots you weren’t implying. Whichever, You’re entitled to your opinion, in my view for most of the second half we were no better, until the expected Alamo of the last 10 minutes against a side hanging on to an unexpected lead.
They have played about 25 minutes in total together, massive success v Brentford, and not as good in the 10 mins or so together today, are you for real 10 min of not playing great together and you're making out they had there chance and were rubbish. Ffs come back after 5 or 6 games not minutes.
Out of interest, what would your ratings be for the Charlton players because apart from this forum I’m reading we dominated them in every aspect apart from gifting them a goal? Our team averages just below 5/10 so I’m assuming apart from their keeper they’re average is nearer or below 4? Genuine question and not having a pop Edit... Leeds Live rate the players ever so slightly higher than you, I just don’t see how a team that has 72% possession, 13 corners to 2 and 19 shots to 3 can rate so badly. Have we really set our expectations so high?
