Matt Smith comes on for Dexter Blackstock. A bit unfair that Leeds have the Doctor on their team, surely.
Full time 2-4. Poor home form continues in an entertaining game dominated by 1 man. Fair play to Ross McCormack, 4 goals in 1 game is special. Look forward to hearing from those who were there.
Standing at Charlton station with 3000 gloating Leeds fans. Initial thoughts. Poor ref. our defence had more holes in it than a string vest, not sure where that leaves us in the table but if you offered me 21st in the table now, I would take it. Need at least two loans in during the break now or a long winter looms
Not too disappointed. No luck with key decisions. We matched them in all areas except having a natural and in-form goalscorer. That is not relegation form. Not a lot better, but then we already knew that. Luckily we have an easy three points next match. Away to QPR. We seem to have signed a good one in Church.
Err...we have got 14 points from 14 games If we carry on and get 46 from 46 we will go down Our home form is absolute ****e
You're right. Initially it's disappointing but we were the better team. People slag is off when we're losing for being too defensive, but today the lads really gave it a go. We became unstuck trying to for an equalizer/victory. We looked coherent and menacing. The result just didn't come. More games like that and we will reap rewards.
Felt Charlton played well in a match dominated by a very inconstant ref... Leeds had four chances and took those four chances though the only one I wanna give them is the first (Good build up play) as the other three were assists from the referee. (Goal 2: Pen could have been ignored to even up our first half pen which was ignored) (Goal 3 / 4: Two free-kicks for nothing more than shoulder barges which our player had to put up with from their player so complete 50/50) Saying that other than the pen we should have defended better and felt Ben Hamer didnt have the greatest game today and felt Yann was really invisible when he came on, his worst performance for the club IMO Church put in yet another good display up front on his own and deserved a goal... Leeds' tactics in the first half were obvious, time waste and fake injury to stop Charlton having advantage of the poor half of the pitch (which we used when we could) and then second half use the pitch to advantage (as Charlton arent a time wasting / injury faking side)
I also daren't put words in his mouth - but it goes back to typicals post about expecting the unexpected. We'll win when we don't expect it, and lose when we do. Sometimes. We didn't roll over - we lost. It hurts, but we still looked good IMO. If we lose 5 on the bounce and play very well, then I'll be concerned. But let's see how we react to it before going OTT.
Strange the way Leeds players kept lying down for no apparent reason. I wondered before the game whether Cousins should have been rested, and maybe Hughes should have given him a breather for this one, he was OK, but he's only 19. You have to admire Church, to play like he did on a pitch like this made him my MOM. Whether you like it or not, our results are better when Pritchard plays.
There was a group of Leeds fans in my section, but I had them ejected by way of a monstrous volley of aggression and profanity. I feel a bit bad for the little lad they had with them, but what foolish parent would take their kid to a match in the away end? Anyway, their threats of meeting me outside did not materialise and I shall soon be sending a complaint to the club about the woeful stewarding on show. As for the match: we played better before Kermit came on. For the twenty minutes leading up to half-time, we were superb and should have gone into the break at least two ahead. Second half was a disjointed display of time-wasting (Leeds), diving (Leeds), and rotten hoof-ball from us. McCormack is sure to go on to better things in the near future. He was the difference.
I thought theirs was a penalty, where you could fault the ref was in the way he lost control of their cynical play acting and time wasting. Its going to be one of those 'one step forward, one step back' seasons for us. Looking at the table tonight, I reckon Donny and Yeovil will finish below us, the 3rd spot could be between us, Millwall and Sheff Wed.
