Sometimes, when I fancy a laugh, I look at Sordell's Twitter page. He has had a busy few days. Its not easy being an "entrepreneur", "shop owner" and all round member of the Gangsta Rap scene. No mention of his efforts as a footballer recently
"Wafted around like a fart in the living room" priceless but accurate description. I must have been generous with my 4.5 marking since I was in a very good mood this morning. How he could come on and lack motivation to attack and run for the ball beggars belief but he seemed more pedestrian than the green man at the crossing who stops moving for long periods of time. There were two occasions when he had the opportunity to harry Turnbull as Church had been doing successfully all evening but after two steps it seemed as though he needed to keep himself fresh for the after party. How about a thread on ten things you will never see from Sordell. Starter for one - a tunnel leap!
I didn't attend as I was at a gig - and typically I miss, what sounds like, a brilliant performance. Had £10 on Stephens 1st goal and charlton 2-1 to compile my misery. Glad Stewart had a good game. His body language seems to suggest he is a confidence player. Really hope CO can keep him motivated, as he is a good championship player on his day. I might have to admit defeat in my defense of sordell though. Now the games over - I assume Powell will be focusing his energy on a few loans to bolster the squad till Christmas. I'm still expecting obika to be one. The young new aster defender seems doubtful if we are now coming in to money.
Alnwick 7 - Did everything well Wilson 5 - Worst match for a while, but got away with it Wiggins 7 - Almost back to his best Morro 6 - Solid Dervite 6 - Good passing Cousins 9 - A real diamond Stephens 8 - Goal of the season Stewart 8 - Played brilliantly for a new deal Jackson 5 - Captain Anonymous Church 7 - Worked hard, should have scored three Kermit 7 - Unfit, but a real focal point for attacks Sordell - **** Donny were poor for the most part, but, nevertheless, we played them off the park. It was refreshing to see us create so many chances and play with such attacking intent. Kermit should have come off earlier, with Piggott his replacement. Jackson needs to drop to the bench. The crowd was sparse, but in good voice. I got home in less than forty minutes. COYR!
I think Stewart's improved form was due to him playing in his natural position on the right. It's taken The Doctor a long time to realise this. To me he was a revelation, taking men on, teasing defenders and not panicking at the sight of a defender rushing at him. He must surely start in this position on saturday?
Stewart was terrible, nay Sordell-like, at QPR. It just shows the benefits of playing people in their correct positions
Far too simplistic. QPR are a very good side at this level. Doncaster are poor and weakened by absentees last night. We won't have an easier match. I am delighted Stewart came good, but one swallow doesn't make a summer. We have seen Green, Wagstaff and Harriott all play the odd blinder when the rest of the team is doing well, but go missing in hard matches because the midfield and defence don't have the leisure to give them the right passes. Obviously Stewart must start there again against Ipswich, being a home match, but unless he can keep reproducing that form we may need Wilson there against tougher opposition. That means a return to fitness and form by Solly or acquiring another right-back, as we don't have one in the u21s to come through. (We have been playing Osborne, a CB, there, and lately Muldoon, a CM).
OY!!!! What about Stephens' goal? No-one want to mention it? I was complaining about the lack of entertainment, but that volley alone was worth the admission money. Before it I was getting a very uncomfortable feeling about the game, and was just waiting for Donny to score in a breakaway. That goal changed the whole mood in the ground. What a shot!
That goal woke everyone up and came from nowhere. Wingers are inconsistent by nature that's how it is. Think the Jacko criticism unfair and no one mention the brilliant pass that lead to the church goal. We are better when Jacko plays simple as that .
I agree Mike. Jackson was putting in a lot of hard graft also was impressed with Church's work rate. I was in NW Quadrant, really good crowd up there will have to go up there again. This was my first home game of the season, despite the train delays was so glad I went.
