We would have conceded more goals this Season if Morrison had been a regular instead of Bikey and Ben Haim. They are both head and shoulders above Morrison.
Different types of player. As far as this particular goal is concerned you'd never catch Morrison ball-watching at a set-piece like TBH. I don't think he would have made the stupid tackle which gave away the free-kick either. TBH is a classy player with the ball at his feet and he also reads the game very well, but in the basics of defending there's nothing between them, and TBH makes a bad mistake just about every game. Until recently he's got away with it, partly due to referees not being cute enough, but now he doesn't look so reliable to me.
We concede far too many goals from set pieces - Brighton being another example. BP really has to consider his zonal marking approach - everytime the ball gets thrown in to our box from a corner or free kick it's heart in mouth moments. Maybe when Henderson is back you can review it, but he has a duty to play the team in a way which will help Pope. Saturday it was evident no one had a clue what they were doing when defending set pieces.
Dick's analogy was the best one, defending and all. We started off the season racing like a Ferrari. We are now running low on fuel in all areas. TBH and Bikey two of the obvious examples.
