The club should be making a new contract for this fella a priority regardless of which division we are in next season. We can’t risk losing him for nowt in the summer, especially if we don’t go up. He’s the best striker in the division, imagine if we don’t go up this season and he signs for someone like Pompey and scores 30 goals firing them to promotion.

Take my hat off to the man, he’s been unbelievable since Johnson came in. Credit to the manager too because a he’s getting the best out of him.

The goal he scored last night was Quinny esque i thought - I was one of his harshest critics earlier in the season when he was offering absolutely nothing. Since then his hold up play and the way he now gets across his man has improved drastically and he now looks a genuine threat at this level.

Agreed, had this conversation last week (before his 4 at the weekend) on here. When people were commenting on who to keep at the end of the season I said I would now keep Wyke which wouldn't have been the case until the new manager came in.

It was said it was a purple patch and that keeping him is accepting mediocrity. I think on his current form he has earned a new contract. I think our ongoing goal and that of all teams should be to always be looking to replace every player I'm their team with better but until we have achieved that and it is proven, by him being replaced long term in the first team, he has to stay.

I hope both Wyke and Mcgeady are given a new contracts over the next two weeks or so. They are as good as we are going to get in this league and if promoted would need to be replaced with better before they were out of the team. So need a new contract for me.

What a difference a new manager can have on players eh?

Mind his first touch is often atrocious and the ball just bounces off him.
It also looks as if LJ has told to cut out the class fouls, it interrupts our momentum and gives the opposition a chance.

A much improved player.

Johnson is slowly transforming this club and Wyke is the stand out benefit of that.
hope he's not too slow in what he's doing to give us that outside chance of a top two spot, fingers crossed.

I have to admit to be eating some humble pie, didn't think he was good enough but Johnson seems to be getting the best from him.
Well done Charlie.....keep it up
Just goes to show a player needs to play for the right sort of manager to bring the best out of them and a manager who plays attacking football is going to use his strike force better than one who plays from a defensive standpoint.

The trouble is too many chase the money rather then the best footballing move.

Said this to my son last night. Not withstanding his goals, his general hold up play, movement, touch etc has improved 10 fold. He is not giving away daft fouls as often and not falling over as much, using his strength to hi advantage. Long may it continue

I really hope he is still here when they let the crowds back in. He deserves fort odd thousand people shouting his name.

He does, and he'll respond. He responded well after his earlier struggles when the crowd got behind him. Now, a clearly rejuvenated player, perhaps fit now and with a manager who seems to able to talk to people properly, looks a player capable of playing in this and the league above.

That was true when he was out of form but not now, there's nothing wrong with his first touch. No worse than any other player of ours.
