Here's hoping - no doubt some of the PL strugglers will come calling in January, but if we are flying high there should be no reason he wouldn't want to see the season out.

Read this article too, says Charlie is after same money as Green and Fer to sign contract extension- get it sorted SLF!

That's a fair enough demand when you put it like that.

He should get more than Green. How many goals has he scored ffs?

I kind of thought he would stay to the summer to be fair. The only PL teams who are likely to come knocking in jan would be struggling, so why would he bother.
Good egg.

according to the Independent.
Newcastle United have been heavily linked with the Queens Park Rangers striker this summer but decided to not pay the £15 million asking price as the club had concerns about Austin’s injury problems.

The frontman ended up staying at the Championship club but it’s thought that Steve McClaren is still interested in signing the English forward and the player hasn’t ruled out a future move.

Speaking to the Independent Austin has revealed that he is focused on making sure that QPR gain promotion back to the Premier League but has stated that he would be open to a move when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The 26-year-old, said:
“It’s a massive move and I want to be at an established Premier League club.
“One that is going forward and one that I feel will suit me.
“I know a lot goes around because of the [4-4-2] way QPR played last year and they will question whether I can play as a one. “It has come up over the summer so that is another little hurdle you have to negotiate.
“I just feel that if something comes up and the club is the right one for me to go to, that will be it. The ones that came up this summer were not right for me.”

Despite Aleksandar Mitrovic having already arrived from Anderlecht, Newcastle have remained hopeful of bringing in another striker and have chased Austin for the last two months but decided that he wasn’t worth paying big money for.

It will be interesting to see if the Magpies continue their pursuit of the striker in January where he will be free to start negotiations with what would be expected to be a large number of clubs.

He's taken a story, picked the quotes he wanted and then added random comment of his own. In doing so he has ignored the quote from Charlie where he says this - “I told him that if the move wasn’t right for them I would be here until next season and trying my very best to get the club back in the Premier League.

Jesus I hope what absolute ****e. My ass cheeks have more journalistic value.

It'll come down to where we are in Jan, if we are fighting near the top and he's scoring goals then there's no way will sell him, if we are looking at mid table and a £5m+ bid is made from the likes of Palace or Newcastle then I could see him going. With our squad we should be challenging for the top so hopefully he'll at least be here till next summer and hopefully beoned!

What a brilliant bloke: so sensible, so grounded!

If he wants a pay increase from £20,000 a week to £40,000 a week that would cost the club £1 million a year. Compared to the money we have p****d away in recent seasons on over-paid, under-performing, big name prima donnas, that would be one of the biggest bargains in the club's history.

OK, he may want a release clause and there may be a knock on effect with other players etc. etc. but that is manageable and we should give him a new contract NOW.
