I see Ings is almost certainly off as well to ManU or Liverpool...

Sports journalism (of you can call it that) really is the pits. On s separate note Anything less than 20m for a young English striker, proven in the prem would be criminal. Charlie could still end up top prem scorer this season.

Precisely .......... how the hell can Austin be rated at only $10m?
We paid $10m for Aunty Sandro and he spend most of that time holidaying with his family around the world.

Austin must command $17m - 20m to say the least................... if not, he stays!

It's ironic that if spent wisely £15-20m should be enough to buy most of a league winning team in the Championship. In the PL this amount get's you a couple of programme sellers if you're lucky, Not saying that I want us to be relegated but if we do go down money from the sale of Chaz will be a vital part of the recovery plan. Of course Burnley will also benefit from the same factor.

The fee is governed by the amount of time left on a contract. Once you reach the final year the value drops like a brick as it will be zero inside a year. That is why we offered him a new deal a few months back and he was advised to reject it.

We will be lucky to get £10 million and that's because he should have been offered the new deal after we were promoted...

Just been reading Ings supposedly doesn't want to go somewhere he will hardly feature. Join us then mate. He and Austin would make a decent strike force.

Most clubs are in this position now - the sad reality is that we are just further down the food chain - Southampton may nick Charlie, but Arsenal will nick Schneiderlin, ManU will nick Clyne and so on. As we seem to share posts now I thought I'd join in

I will be amazed if Austin is still with us next season, whatever division we are in.

Agreed. He deserves better than a team scrapping for 17th. To have achieved what he has with the shocking service, pre-Phillips' run of form recently, has been remarkable. Was never going to happen but I think he's more deserving of a POTY nomination than Coutinho or even Costa.

He may hit 20 league goals this season, which will be a major achievement in anyone's book. But I fear this will be his best ever season in the PL, wherever he goes they will be less likely to provide him with an OBZ to play off.

But far likelier to provide him with any sort of Premier League quality midfield.

It is all about what Charlie wants. If we stay up then he will be offered a longer contract, if we go down then he will still be offered a contract, but would be daft to accept it.
    Stay up - 50/50
    Go down - 99.9/0.1

No idea if he will be a hit at another club IMO
More interested that he steps up in our last games .. if he does and scores at City and Liverpool then what ever figures you are thinking add on 5M for each of those matches

I'm not sure that is relevant. His contract has a year to run - if he wants to go and someone comes in with an offer we can either accept or force him to stay and let him leave on a free when his contract runs out.

A bidding war is the best bet, but clubs know his contract situation and will be unwilling to pay op dollar. If we hold out and overprice him the suitors might drop out/look elsewhere and we're left with a disgruntled employee that we will allow to leave in a January cut price sale to recoup something.

Tricky, and I think we have very limited bargaining power - as someone said earlier, we really should have offered him a contract extension the day after May 24th - but at that time no-one knew he could cut it in the PL. Ultimately it demonstrates that at the time we had little faith in him, because if HR or the Board had thought he was capable of 20 goals a season in the PL this situation would never have been allowed to arise.

States with absolute certainty that he will leave. Surely that is not decided yet?
