TBH I'm really not that bothered that he's moved on......players come, players go.......football continues to evolve...

It's ironic that JFH is in a position where we have to consolidate which is exactly the position Ramsey was in at the start of the season until that tweet.....get to 50 odd points asap then let the manager build a side that he wants for next season.......we always said it would get worse before it gets better....

Once again, our board take a gamble that they lose. Losing gambles is becoming a habit.

Leicester were the only bidders in the summer, £12 million turned down, Palace tried to set up a deadline day deal that fell through. I bet Charlie would have loved it at Leicester this season...

The BBC website reported that we turned down £12m offer from Leicester.

He probably wouldn't have got into the Leicester side the way Vardy and Mahrez have been playing.......

The Club or Austin said no because like everyone else he thought that they would be in a relegation battle and they didn't fit in with his wish to go to an established Premier League side?

Gutted to see Charlie go and make no mistake it has been another complete F'up by the club yet again.
    However
As i said yesterday, when the dust settles we are the ones that will still be here season after season.

I remember when Rufus Brevett went to Fulham and every QPR fan hated him. Now he is at the QPR games on Radio and as a supporter and is a top bloke again.

Hopefully we can get in a new hero.

With promotion being such a long shot, this was the right time to go.

His goals earnt us a lot more than 4 or 12 million when he contributed so heavily to our promotion.

Hope he does fantastically well and I'll root for him. He's done well this season without, I suspect, really wanting to be here. He's been professional, done his job and I'm sure loved the fans (who wouldn't love being at the centre of hero worship) but it's obvious he wanted more than our tinpot club and who can blame him.

For whatever reason, the club did turn down an offer of £12M. The BBC story was posted on their QPR page dated 3rd July. From the club's business perspective, they have lost £8m by not anticipating what the outcome of all this would be and by not agreeing a new contract with Charlie. Out and out bad business. There are no other words for it.

Completely agree...£8 million down plus screwed for goalscoring strikers for the rest of this season. Even in the summer, or the rest of January we will struggle to replace someone of Charlie's calibre with only £4 million.

That paragon of virtue the BBC......really? We don't know the workings within the club, it is all supposition on our part.......Austin came out after deadline day and said he only wanted to go to an established Prem club, that effectively ruled Leicester out of the equation at the time.......The club has now got 4m whereas in 6 months time they would have got bugger all......lets hope they spend it wisely.

    Not just the BBC.

I did a quick google search of "Leicester bid £12m for Charlie Austin".

    The following all carry the story;

    1. BBC
    2. Sky news
    3. The Guardian.
    4. NBC Sports
    5. Irish Independent.
    6. Daily Mail.
    7. Talksport.
    8. ESPN.
    9. Daily Express.
    10. The Times.

etc etc etc That is just a cross section of some of the reputable websites who carried the story.

From the clubs perspective, if established Premier clubs weren't bidding for Charlie, they should have taken it upon themselves to agree a new contract with him to prevent him leaving at a bargain basement price 6 months later. It is simply bad planning on the club's part.

Finglas, Austin or his agent were not interested in signing a new contract, why would they when they knew he could go for nowt in the summer, the club couldn't force him to sign a new contract........it's not bad planning on the clubs part, Austin was in a win win position.......

If Leicester were the only bidders and Austin didn't want to go there again there was nothing the club could do......It's obviously now that the club have decided to take the money on offer......
