The trouble with PR people like the slippery Methven is that they sound plausible and convincing. But just like politicians they never answer a direct question with a straight answer. It is obvious to me that the net spend was hardly anything. They used the money from May to get the players Jones wanted. They also got a number of high earners off the payroll. Also the question of young players from the academy came up. The slippery one got a bit agitated when told that Kanu, Anderson and TC were not good enough for a promotion chasing team. Birmingham, Wrexham etc don’t have players like that. Unfortunately the really good academy players, Gomez, Lookman, Konsa etc get sold.
It’s not too difficult to catch out slippery Charles Methven & the SMT, although no surprise that over on our sister forum ITTV that tedious wind bag Mundell has just posted a 5,000 word thesis on what a great job they are doing For example. I’m old enough to remember 15 months ago, at a previous meeting when Captain Birdeye lookalike James Rodwell (who is equally as fishy) announced that property expert Ed Warrick was joining the SMT, and that negotiations with the Duchatelet Trust over the assets would start very soon. Fast forward all of 15 months, and slippery Charles Methven let slip last night that nothing urgent has happened in terms of negotiating for the assets Just the same old ya ya that “the Valley is worth nothing without planning permission etc” We all know why (apart from Mundell) They are potless flippers. They can’t even afford a decent striker. There is zero prospect of SE7 /GFP ever buying the assets, regardless of what Slippery Charles Methven and useful idiots like Mundell claim to the contrary.
Absolutely no chance of these guys buying the assets. They are on a low risk / low investment punt to flip it only
They are here for the quick flip, and *almost* everyone knows it. Appointing Dr Will & re-laying the pitch etc is nothing more than putting lipstick on the old tart before you close your eyes to bang it (sorry for the analogy, but it’s apt …)
The end of the meeting was met with a wall of silence when being thanked for giving their time. I booed them.
Cheers for the updates last night. It’s telling that a couple of the more credible posters on CL went into the meeting with an open mind, and came away giving Slipperty a big thumbs down. The only posters taken in by CM are a handful on ITTV & Dubai.
They crawl away with their tails between their legs, just like our last 5 owners did. The one consolation this time is that the SMT will go first, at least before the investors do.
