Don't think there's a thread on this? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/chaplow-makes-millwall-move-715422.aspx Two month loan. Not a real loss, best of luck to him.
He helped set up the second goal at Chelsea, so he in effect played a crucial part in a point for us this season. That alone makes his wages this season worthwhile, and that point could ultimately keep Saints in the Premier League. He was Southampton best player, for a period, in our first season back in the Championship. Good luck to him.
Go on Chappers! Hardest running baldie in the business, at least since Chris Marsden hung up his boots.
Sorry to see him go, but Millwall have bagged themselevs a hard-working, honest player who will always give his all Assuming he gets released in the summer, thanks for everything Chappers!
At last, before his injury he was actually a good play. After it he just ran around not doing much apart from getting booked from a miss timed tackle. Best of luck to him and I thank him for what he has done for us.
First thought back at the time of Armstrong at Saints that there would be mileage in an all-bald team. Again, when Lombardo was at Palace, it came to my mind. Now that McDermott is out of a job, and Chaplow is looking for a club, I once again would like to flag up my support for a hairless team. There is something about it that would be quite intimidating for teams to play against. Hard to mark at corners etc. too - would have to get more creative then "mark the bald one". The confusion and disorientation at set pieces would be akin to that scene from Being John Malkovich in the restaurant. Especially in the final throes of injury time when Friedel would inevitably be in the box too. And if they made the Champions League and Collina made a refereeing comeback, the opposition would stand no chance.
Richard Chaplow: 'Thanks for all the messages and well wishes, I've had some amazing moments at #saintsfc and hope I can have more after this season. Got to a stage tho where I needed mins and #millwall was an exciting prospect for me, no good being sag on the bench not get on! #needtoplay. Good luck to #saintsfc and can't wait to get started at #millwallfc now!'
Well worth the £50k we signed him for. My favourite memories are him are the 3-0 vs Boro at home where he ran the show, and the goal against United from our '125' season.
That shot would still be travelling upwards now if it weren't for the net getting in the way. Absolute rocket.
My favourite memory of Chappers was Peterborough away when he was doing all he could to wind 'Son of Fergie' up. He's done a good job for Saints, especially when you think he only cost £50k?
Love the man, but clearly not got the quality for us! Hope he recaptures some of his before injury form, otherwise i fear he will warm the bench for Milwall too, he gives it his all, but sometimes all that is, is a 50% pass rate, a yellow card and a nervy tackle after he's been booked!
I liked how during the Coventry game, Lallana, Sharp and Hammond were being interviewed and Chaplow came out of nowhere, jumped on them and started celebrating with them!
Don't mention the Coventry game, because there's someone who was there who isn't here now Not that I don't support Mauricio, but memories of that day are tainted for me now.
